View Full Version : Quest bug... House of broken chains

Seems every time I do this one I have to do so twice... always some named fella you kill never gets checked off on the to-do list.

This time it was Guard Captain Amalzen. I killed him from across the yard with a manyshot as he was running towards me ... took all of a three seconds, shows I killed him in combat log an all but the quest check list does not. I cleared and did all the rest of the quest left nothing unturnd and hoped he show up again but what can ya expect?

I've had this happen twice now to me as well. Very frustrating, as the first time I ran this chest I had barely paid attention to the name, and got a lucky Destruction in on him from range - then spent over 30min combing the quest looking for this elusive Guard Captain, and even combing the forums for clues as to where he spawns, only to realize I had already killed him before I even entered the main area...

It would seem if you kill him from range, it bugs out since he dies before the quest properly adds in the "kill Guard Captain Amalzen" objective. This should be fixed to add that quest objective the second the final pen is clear, so that those ranged characters can avoid a very annoying quest bug.

happened to me too today - FoD and bam he was down - few second later he speaks and quest progress is updated with "Defeat Guard Captain"

Happened to me today. GM tried to help but couldn't respawn Amalzen, only trash mobs

You have to make sure you get close enough to where he sapwns at the start before you kill him to actually trigger the objective.

If you range pull him away from his starting area you will never trigger the objective until you have already killed him at which time you can not kill him again to complete the objective.

Yuck. That's the same bug as in Mining Ancient Secrets with the Power Crystals at the end.

Range them from up top and bye-bye completion.

Just had the same happen to me, a senior gm was able to respawn him and I finished, this was on live.

Curious how long did you wait for said gm?

and btw.. you can reset this quest and get back to him in um.. 30-90 seconds on N/H. Maybe 4-5 mins tops on epic elite or the same if you use lockpick (0 mobs to fight).. Just an fyi for next time.

Yeah, this. Did it wrong once, didn't notice 'til end of quest, got really ****ed off, remembered every time since then.

GM respawned him 3 mins after my ticket, very nice!
