View Full Version : Artificer quick draw

Hello random stranger on the internet,

long story short (well not really...) i took a break for about a month or so ago (lol skyrim) then came back and when i did i capped my arti about a week ago and have been running raids and epics with him doing the whole grind. as i was leveling up i was looking at what to slot his 18th level feat and at the time quickdraw seemed to be the only logical option because i didn't see much else that really popped out to me. my reasoning behind this feat was that it would make endless fusilaude and scroll swapping quicker. now the scroll swapping has been quicker but i haven't noticed EF's animation to be any faster, still that lame slow animation... so what im looking for from you is thoughts or suggestions as to a replacement.

Thing's i was concidering as options.
Construct Essence
Augment summons
Quicken

CE - seeing as i am half elf (for rog dilly purposes, and the fact that i hate playing toasters) this is quite attractive seeing as im not always so quick with player reaction time on the heal scrolls, so the thought of being able to self heal without dealing with item swapping (something i loathe) sounds great, however this feat has always seemed like a trap to me seeing as it doesn't heal for as much as it would on a WF, and that would mean burning through my already miniscule mana pool that much faster.

Augment Summons - IIRC this feat beef's up not only my dog but flame turret aswell, but flame turrets damage as is isn't enough for me to see a feat being worth the cost. and my dog get's one shotted in epics anyway so i doubt the addition of this feat would be a game breaker for him. although i've noticed alot of people wanting arti's with this feat for hound runs... but i just can't seem to justify spending a feat slot i would only use in one raid.

Quicken - too few spells that actually require the use of quicken, i would only take it if CE was added for the purpose of quickened reconstructs.

Thoughts/suggestions/am i a total noob and quick draw is better then im giving it credit for?

I'd recommend Skill Focus: UMD if you dont already have it

of those, i personally would either stick with quickdraw or grab quicken. i know, quicken doesn't sound that great except for reconstruct, but i've found that when i want my CC spells to go off (and they cast rather slow by default), i generally really really really want them to work.

but then, i suppose that also depends on your DCs. you may not have the DC to worry about that.

Already have it :\
infact im sitting at a 42 umd with GH so was concidering actually dropping SF:umd aswell for something more useful.

yeah my dc's are quite low, but that's mainly due to gear... but that will come with time. i haven't really checked but i think most of my spells dc's are in the low 30's, except for lightning spells... those are a bit lower for some reason, not entirely sure why. as for quicken.... i honestly can't think of a time when i thought to myself "man i wish i had quicken for spell XYZ." because when i run epics im useually with 2 pm's and they throw down holds and discos left and right so i dont see much point in my doing what is already being done by someone else... kind of view it as a "dont fix it if it isn't broken" sort of thing.

maybe i'll slot in another toughness or something like that.... not really seeing many options here. :\

side note: i find it funny that when i played a pally and rogue i complained because i didn't have enough feats... now i feel like i have too many.

yes, artis have lots of feats ^^

one possibility is to pick up quicken on the theory that eventually the devs will make the potion throwing spells subject to quicken. i was told it was a bug that they weren't, but who knows what the timeline is on that getting fixed...

DCs low...
Do you have Spell Focus / Greater Spell Focus Evocation? Consider these as well.

I really like quick draw on my Half Elf Arty. I am always swapping stuff and activating damage boosts.

That being said the Spell focus/Greater are really nice if you don't have them.

i think im forgetting one...

That is a good note about the mixtures, can't say i thought of that before tbh... and i do use them quite frequently in raid/epic encounters, and that casting animation is quite slow... hmm... i'll have to concider it as more of an option now for that reason.

it's more of a "planning for the future" kinda thing, since atm they don't even have the option of being quickened.
