View Full Version : Suggestion to help prolong guild ship buffs

was thinking o myself last nigh as i duo'd GH with a friend.

wouldn't it be nice if completing a quest extended the duration of your ships buffs by (for example) 20 minutes.

it would allow you to go through places like Necro, GH and Vale without having to run off to rebuff after every 2-3 runs, saving time running back through wilderness areas, or waiting for slow people buff'n.

maybe even have it difficulty defined, norm completion +10 mins, Hard completion +20mins, elite completion +30mins.

Nice and interesting idea, but really there is no need for something this complicated. Just let ship buffs remain until death or log-out. Failing that allow it for say 3 hours or so......

A better idea would be for the timers not to run in public areas.

Although I rarely require ship buffs, not trying to brag, but when I started to play DDO, buffs, resists, all that, was done by spells and potions, so I like to keep it challenging. :cool: its only on raids or on really difficult quests where I use the buffs.

Most ideally I would say that the buffs should have no expiration but will expire upon death and log out. Also, you would be able to only acquire your own ship buffs and no one Else's.

So only those in a guild would be able to get buffs? From a recruitment standpoint, this would get more peeps in guilds, but I'm not too keen on this idea. I've run into a small handful of peeps who are not in a guild BY CHOICE. So they get left out and have to supply their own pots? What of those who don't have Altars of Destruction on their ships? Can they still visit a different ship to use one? I can imagine difficult coding issues to lock all visitors out of all the buff shrines but allow the use of Altars.

I think the best idea has been put forth already. The timer pauses in public areas.

This is what I said in the OTHER ASB post...

Ship buffs are a perk, not a feat, skill or enhancement line. And for every perk, there is a downside. I grow tired of all of the posts that request an up side without the down side. All of the posts made in the guise of *better* or *balance* are actually thinly veiled attempts to make it so that the player can always win. Whether its a speed things up because I dont have that much time to play or an I suck and want you to make the game easier, It's nearly always falling into those 2 categories.

Isn't part of the reason you play, the challenges? Overcoming the shortfalls of the character? Overcoming overwhelming odds? Making everything easier by lengthening the buff timers is silly. I can get buffs done in 5 min or less on the biggest ship. And if you're too impatient to wait that long, try doing the same thing in another game. (one that's worth playing)

Figure a way to deal with it.
