View Full Version : Cleric Considering "Anonymous"

My cleric is on his third life, with his first life also as a cleric. I have never gone anonymous before, though it has often been suggested.

I don't really mind when someone sends me a tell, asking me if I want to do this quest or that quest. I understand what it's like to look for a healer. I will often join those groups, but not always.

When it gets annoying is when I don't want to join that group and reply with something like, "No, thank you." And then I get a series of additional tells from the samer person, such as:
"Why not?"
"What are you doing?"
"Why don't you want to do this quest?"
"What quest are you doing now?"
"When will you be done?"
"Thanks for nothing!"

I really don't mind the tells asking me if I want to group for a quest. But, if I politely decline, it would be nice to just let it drop...

just lie... "on timer" usually stops any raid and epic requests, "guild run soon" or "just checking AH, have to take care of the kids" will prevent any others. Going anonymous might get you declined if you want to join a party, you could be tsontsantsin (name changed, but thelanis citizens know who Im talking about).

I remember one time getting two blind invite from the same person on the third one I excepted. I was in the sands on the way to OOB. They all jump into what ever quest they were running and started asking where I was. Told them I was in OOB and that there leader had just sent me some random invite. They couldn't kick me so they all had to drop and reform. :)

Going anonymous is somethign i do all the time.

When i first log in, I hit the button in the social panel. That way it lets me take care of all the little things i need to do prior to starting a quest. When you are done and ready to begin your day adventuring, simply click off the anonymous button.

I also employ this strategy when i am inbetween quests hitting the ah, clearing inventory, tracking down mats and scrolls etc. That way im not bothered by unwanted tells.

I normally don't run Anonymous unless I'm doing something I don't want to be interrupted for. I don't mind /tells either, and very often I'll join if asked. But yeah, multiple /tells within a short period when I'm busy will sometimes make me go Anonymous for a short while just to get a break.

(And for those players who can't take "Sorry, can't right now" for an answer, /squelch is a useful tool as well :) I think I've only done that one time though. )

Works for me.

Whats anonymous? like I know what it means, but there is a setting to basically hide yourself? Might come in handy, though I never get asked to heal on my Cleric, just my FvS. Probably a good thing, since I built my FvS for melee dps and healing

See above picture. Go to the 80 character comment box.. Follow it left.. and go down. See the check box?

You don't show up on the who tab, or friends list.
You are visible in guild as logged in, and you are still clearly visible in the public area's.

Heh, neat. Might come in handy, though i dont get pestered much. Ghallanda pugs don't seem to pester divines to heal very much.

LOL. There must be very few "strong" toons on Thelanis as long as those lfms stay up unfilled.

yep, I was quite shocked when I saw him in a LFM for VoD with 10 other people and he wasnt the leader. What he was however, is inside Chronoscope.

Yeah, I'm on Ghallanda, and I get a polite tell from time to time on my favored soul. I don't remember the last time anyone was actually rude about it.

I rarely get any tells to join quests now, but then I am splashing a level of wizard or sorc by level 7 or on my true soloish I have 2 levels of rogue (by level 14) so that seems to cut down on most :D

Even been denied groups with that 1 level of arcane/rogue. Pretty funny too, as they are generally still waiting for a "healer" to come along after I done that same quest twice solo. Most cannot seem to get their heads around a cleric having the ability to do more than just sit back and cast a few cure spells.

:) I love getting invites. That's one of the most fun parts about playing a cleric, everyone wants you :D But, actually, I'm not getting that many invites. Usually I'm checking lfg and sending leaders a tell that I'd like to join (I don't really just join anymore, I usually send a tell that I can help out, I'd like to run it, etc). Usually if I get an invite, if it's a quest or raid I'd like to run, I do join. My most common reason for not joining is that I'm about to log off, and I usually tell the person that. So far never had any negative replies, though. Sometimes ppl don't reply to my tell, though, but maybe they were afk or busy doing something?
