2010 - $249.96
2011 - $177.46
2012 - $50.97 (but will be buying the $200 point bundle and MotU [standard ed.] today so add another $250)

I have a spreadsheet somewhere ... I was ViP for 5+ years and then went premium in January. I did buy the CE plus points bundle and points last fall. I will have to post the exact numbers later, but I have definitely been a 'friend' of the program. :D

Been playing off and on since it was P2p. Only bought a few of the low level packs that sounded fun.

I suspect that upon our deaths, the most embarassing detail of our lives will be the sum total of money and time we outright wasted. I don't think it's fair to call out the DDO allotment as being less worthy of wasting than the rest of it :)

$180 - 1 year (2006) @ full rate $14.99
$600 - 5 yrs. @ 2nd Anniversary rate $9.99
$100 - at least 2 TP packs
$80 - FR expansion

I may have purchased more than two TP packs but can only directly remember the two.
To be fair I'll subtract the $5.00/mo for 500TP. figure 3 years? $180
$960
$180 -

$780
This obviously does not include connection costs.

Two accounts:
$100 turbine points each = $200
2x stormreach boxes = $10
1x collector's expansion + 11k TP package = $120
Total: ~$350

In our family since 2009 we've spent $2110.00 on DDO.
In the same time period, we've spent $3600 on cable tv. And we have the minimal package.

I've been playing a week short of 16 months, own every pack (including challenges) except restless isles, but already have 518 tp and just waiting for a 20% or better sale to get it. I have yet to buy anything but adventure packs (no races, classes, tomes, appearance kits, mana pots, etc...) with the exception of a single pack of 25 20% crafting boosters.
I keep track of my purchases:
1900 for $19.50 = 97.44 tp/dollar (350 free)
600 for $7.99 = 75.09 tp/dollar (100 free)
2600 for $29.99 = 86.70 tp/dollar
1950 for $19.99 = 97.55 tp/dollar (350 free)
1600 for $19.99 = 80.04 tp/dollar
600 for $7.99 = 75.09 tp/dollar (100 free)
----
9250 for $105.45 = 87.72 tp/dollar
$105.45 for tp
I will be preordering the $30 base package in a couple weeks, so $135 total. I don't expect to spend any more money on the game, but then again I didn't expect the expansion, either, and I'm coughing up $30 for that. heh.

One 23€ TP pack, one 38€ TP pack -> 60€ currently (I own all the adventure packs, monk, warforged, basic shared bank). I'm planning on buying MotU Standard edition next week, which will bring the total to about 100€.
Turbine is doing a good job, that's much more than I usually spend on any game. My highest priced purchase "recently" has been Dragon Age: Origins Ultimate Edition for 23.41€, and I never buy games on release.

I bought a $30 TP pack when I first started, then bought a $60 pack. A friend gave me $30 for Christmas and I think the pack I bought was $35. And Ive bought the MotU $80 bundle.
So all up a bit under $200 of my own money. Ive now been playing about a year. But for the time being I dont need to buy anything else. I have enough TP to buy Monk, Artificer and something else if I need it (I own all the packs I want, and all the classes and races)... just waiting on the last ones I want to be discounted.
At the moment I have spent pretty much the same as I would have spent if I was VIP, but over the next 12 months or so I will have spent less.

I'm a bit surprised at how many of you own "everything except" a few minor things...having spent so little. I got most of my packs at 20% off. I could have been more diligent but I got most of them on sale.
Anyways, try to remember...the point of this exercise is to actually crunch the numbers...not tell us what you "think" you spent. 2 completely different things in many cases.
I have to admit, i spent a lot more than I fooled myself into believing but ya...hard to argue with $0.50 for entertainment if Xenzo's math is correct.

Been playing over a month....started with wanting first toon to be drow so I had to whip out $19.99 for no doubt pure marketing strategy that the cheaper pack was not enough to buy drow, since I had points left so I of course added onto my drow purchase with some other shiney things..I decided I want to look good, but wait now I got a +1 armour and learn that with every armour upgrade have to buy a new appearance kit. More andrew jacksons ripped from the paypal transfer account once I got the +2 armour. Then get out of the harbor into marketplace then realize most of the adventures beyond newb level are not f2p, nice trap they got me hooked now....
Started a crafter toon, thinking just to use the free challenge tokens and already have the quests from my drow purchased, but wait 'you are not old enough to enjoy this ride', so even more ripped from the wallet so I could pay for the challenges I was allowed to play. Then realize that once you get out of newb zones that your storage and bags are way less than all the lootz you get from doing all the quests, so more ripped bills from me wallet and guess what they are BTC not BTA! Then in a moment of drunken acid bath questing with quests of surely mislabeled level, I bought some serial cakes and golden clerics because I wanted to go to bed and just get it over with. ding...ding...ding...so the cheaper crafter toon ended up costing even more TP.
I am convinced they do not want VIP members because they make way more money from Premium members with the illusion it is free only pay if you want. A VIP is not going to buy more stuff because they figure they are already paying, but a premium will because they already got into the habit of getting the wallet raided, and they do everything they can to convert any F2P. I did not do VIP under the illusion I can quit at any time and still be ahead...
Because I got tired of the another twenty bucks every time I needed some little thing and I am sure I spent more than that last month, I just bought the $199.99 TP pack full price pricing simply because I know I will use it and that gets closer to the 1c per TP pricing so I can mentally realize how many bucks this next little thing is costing me.....
Trying to discipline myself playing under hardcore rules that DDO store is not allowed to buy way out of a quest, otherwise those two benjamins are going to ding way to quickly....and I will be buying another TP megapack....but dang that default armour is intentionally fugly so even though my random rolls are likely to die with their shiny DDO store armour kits, they cannot be looking like they are still in rags! And my new toons are not arti or ranger and I kind of miss having a pet and do so love the hilarity of dragging a slave kobold around while I kill kobolds.....so am tempted....but that means every toon is going to want their own pet so the stable is going to get full..

Around $350 over 2 years including the Xpack(1 account always premium). I believe I own everything, maybe one stray pack I am missing. Bought most back when they were running the 50% off sales near xmas more than a year back.
The hardest pack for me to buy was the Challenge pack, it was just Soooo expensive to me. Ended up getting it 20% off but still.
Well I've been around for almost 6 years now (minus a 6 month break), so its added up. For a year or two both my GF & wife also played and I covered their accounts. So that's $750+ in sub fees alone. I know I bought one point bundle for my wife who was just F2P, so that's $50. My GF covered her own TP but I think she bought once for the $100 package. And I think I've dropped about $200 on TP bundles, plus the $80 for the xpac.
I'm probably forgetting a couple TP purchases, so let's add $120 more just for fun and call it $1300 since 2006, less if we were only looking at my own gameplay.
$200ish/year... well my cable bill is $700ish/year so DDO comes off pretty cheap.
Although I have to say that POST 2009 I'm spending more than under the old model. I think I'm one of the last VIPs so I still have that bill and yet I'm a sucker for store conviniences (xp pots, guild portals, etc) so overall they are doing well with me. It's probably more like $250-300/year I'm spending these days, but even at $300/year, it's a reasonable price that lets me have a lot of fun.

I'm sure I'm well over a grand between my son's and my accounts.
I used to play golf.
All Ping:
$699.99 - G15 4-PW, GW Iron Set with Steel Shafts
$299.99 - G15 Driver
$199.99 - G15 Fairway Wood
$299.99 - Nome 405 Adjustable Belly Putter - Black Dot
$199.99 - Hoofer C-1 Stand Bag
Total $1,699.95
Two years worth of Green fees averaging $45.00 per round, once a week:
Total $4,680
Golf balls (I'm a duffer) Nike 20XI-X Golf Balls, $45.99, per month:
Total $1103.76
Grand total: $7,483.71
Sure you get to get exercise and sun while golfing. But then there's the stress and danger of melanoma.
I'm way ahead.

I miss Turbine Tuesdays and half off deals. That's how I wound up with everything BUT artificer and the challenge pack. 20-30% deals are wussy, heh!

I've been patiently waiting, but man it's been a long time!For me the worst was the second half of 2011. I bought a $20 double bonus point bundle in August, with the intention to spend those points on Amrath, Reign of Madness, Dreaming Dark and Devil Assault. Devil Assault went on sale soon after so I snatched it up, but the other three didn't go on sale until December. Four months! Four months I had to force myself to wait on high level packs that I was dying to play and needed to get started on with loot farming. I was so happy when that high level pack sale finally appeared last December; it really was like Christmas. heh.

I'm scared to do the math, but I've spent more money in the past 6 months on DDO than I did on the entire 2 years I played World of Warcraft. However, I've also had a lot more than four times as much fun, so I'd say it averages out quite nicely in favor of DDO.

Anyways, try to remember...the point of this exercise is to actually crunch the numbers...not tell us what you "think" you spent. 2 completely different things in many cases.
You want the numbers? Here they are:
First I got Gianthold and Red Fens with -20% and applying the democoupon (1400 -> 1064);
Then, I got some packs at -20%: Phiarlan Carnival, Delera's Tomb, Sentinels of Stormreach, Vault of Night, Demon Sands, Vale of Twilight, Devils of Shavarath and, when it came out, Secrets of the Artificers + Monk class and Warforged race (7290 -> 5832);
I got Reign of Madness at full price because I just returned from a period of inactivity and everyone was playing that (450) and some overlapping offers allowed me to get the Necropolis bundle for 1196 TP.
I stumbled upon the Determine your Discount offer and I bought the rest of the stuff I have at -30%: rest of packs, Vault of the Artificers when it was on discount at -30% around Christmas IIRC, basic shared bank (8540 -> 5978);
The only one I was missing was Three Barrel Cove and I got it at -75% recently (650 -> 163).
The total of my purchases should be around 14.683 TPs.
Now, a double bonus 23€ bundle is 4300 TP, a double bonus 38€ bundle is 6900 TP;
My main toon on Argonnessen got to 3k or so favor, then TR'd and got to 1.6k favor again, for a total of about 1.550 TP including first time server-wide boni; my other toons on the same server reached 2.5k, 2.4k and 1.7k favor, collecting 1.650 TPs;
One toon on each server up to 100 favor (7x), in addition to some toons I use to play with my sister on Ghallanda, granted me another 1.200 TP.
I bought and earned, in the proportion shown, 15.600 TPs.
My actual balance is around 700 TPs, so I may be wrong in recalling the timing of some purchases.

Nov 2010: $20 points bundle (had to buy shared bank to fix something)
Dec 2010: $50 points bundle (double bonus points before christmas specials)
2011: $0
2012: $0 (however I've been the benefactor of a 5k TP points code "gift")
I do love this game and its flexible approach to spending money. I've got access to everything now except for the challenge pack and U9 and 10 packs (madness chains).
