View Full Version : I think I inadvertantly insulted someone last night

As we were disbanding after a failed elite shroud run, I mentioned I was surprised that I survived as long as I did while I was in the loading screen.
I think one of the healers in the group took it the wrong way.
I was referring to MY toons squish factor. Not disparaging the talents of the healers in the group.

I hope you read this.
I don't want you to think I'm an ungrateful SOB.

I hope you read this.Chances are slim - only a small minority of a tiny section of a minute slice of the game's population read the forums. Not saying it's impossible to apologize for such a thing here with full public edification of your mistimed remark - just that maybe sending a nice letter with your mea culpa via the Mail would suffice and have a much higher chance of reaching the person you want it to.

True - *IF* one can remember the toon's/player's name...

Easiest solution is to reroll so you can have a different name...

j/k

Just send them a set of masterwork thieves tools and and explanation...that usually makes people feel better.

Ah. but I would send in game mail, had I not been in a loading screen when I made the remark and they replied with a cold "thanks".
I don't know who it was that said it.

I think the first suggestion is the only possible solution.
Or I could just shame-quit.

Then the only sensible solution would be to send a letter of apology to each and every cleric between levels 16 and 20 on your server. Who cares if people you didn't offend read it... that's happening now. I mean, if you are really, truly, deeply, regrettably upset that you could have possibly maybe created an emotional speed bump for a person - then it's the only way to be sure.

Nope. Nothing for it but to shame-quit.
Or just never ever run shroud again.

Since the person was SO upset, its possible they even switched servers. I'd say all clerics on all servers.

Not to be nitpicking but "mea culpa" is used when a person is guilty of something, in this case the OP is just trying to explain a misunderstanding. He's not really trying to apologize, just clearing things up.

As we were disbanding after a failed elite shroud run, I mentioned I was surprised that I survived as long as I did while I was in the loading screen.

I was referring to MY toons squish factor. Not disparaging the talents of the healers in the group.

I hope you read this.
I don't want you to think I'm an ungrateful SOB.

A) The dude\chick probably doesn't even remember it as some WF without healers friend has since cussed and screamed into voice about not getting heals from the lame healer blah blah etc.

B) Disbanding after a failed run usually closes with "cold" thanks. It's polite to be gracious in that situation but its not required to sound sincere. Most likely you heard the cold thanks from someone that just finished strangling their cat in a rage because the raid wiped and coincidentally; after you made this innocent comment.

C) I kind of thought that I should guard my in game 'cred' and then I realized that I play this game to have fun and as such I'm not going to worry about making people feel bad if that's not what I intended. Not that I deliberately intend to unless they are being bullies\obnoxious.

So to hell with em...

Stuff, people, and things ... a reason I don't care for running groups.

Actually, yesterday we played an elite Shroud on Sarlona with about half the members being melees. And it was quick and smooth: 35 minutes, only 2 deaths (one melee in part 4 and one healer in part 1, oddly enough), no pots used (as far as I could see), and awesome loot for everyone (I got 3 large scales myself). It's not the character class, but the player's class, that matters.

if you feel you insulted a cleric, you must go and taunt every divine in every public area /taunt. then you can apologize to all divines and have earned it,otherwise your saying sorry to the 10 clerics you havn't insulted.public taunting is always the answer.

If they are truely divine, they understood before you did.

I agree!

Apology accepted! And accepted on behalf of whoever it was you were running with as well, on the very slim chance they were indeed offended.
