View Full Version : Account Minmaxing: Best TP-farming build?

So the convergence of the Shared Bank sale with the end of my VIP account has pushed me over the edge and firmly into Premium territory. I ended up getting the $50 MoTU preorder and took advantage of the bonus Turbine Points offer, gazed lovingly at my 6,000TP balance, then (of course) immediately blew my wad on a bank and the Half-race/32-point build package... which leaves me 100 TP short of getting all the Adventure Packs on sale this week (all of which are apparently highly-recommended).
I have this idea to make up the difference by taking advantage of my new Veteran-4, 32-point, Half-Elf character build potential, by farming TP on other servers. I don't want to take a lot of time away from my main on Thelanis (I'm in a static group) so I'm hoping to hoover up points solo as fast as possible.
Can anyone suggest a lowbie build that I can spam for this project? Does it even matter? Also, what are some of the best f2p adventure time-to-favor ratios?
Thanks in advance for helping me on my unusual quest.

the dash to 100 on all servers is pretty much the standard.. as for what character to go for to do it, if you have them i'd suggest warforged artificer as being oe of the ultimate low level favour runners (repeater plus elemental weapons & the dog makes for very easy time of things), otherwise just a helf cleric with fighter dilly, grab a greatsword & just do the harbour quests, its not difficult to get a group together for a TP/favour run.. if you stick that in the lfm, you may even have some kindly highby spend 10-15mins zerging through a few them for you.

Pretty much anything works well- typically want to stay away from low level casters at very low level farming; Less as a matter of potency (charm works great) but as a matter of speed. Pure paladins, battle clerics and fvs work well, and hybrids with a level in a healing class and a level in rogue can do fantastic at low levels if you want to fool around with xp.
You'll want to stay away from ranged toons (they're potent enough, but weak in certain quests at low level, and generally perform runs slower than melees). I'd advise against rogues and barbarians as well, for reasons of comparative self-sufficiency (though the run speed boost on barbs is handy). Likewise for bards, whom lack a real kick at that level. Fighters do well, Monks do fantastic (and their speed boost helps speed things up). Low level melee rangers can be surprisingly potent.
So, again, most anything works well, and what doesn't you can make work.
However, if you have access to Artificer, that may very likely be your best bet as a soloable class, especially if you're warforged as well.
On an additional note, the high level adventure pack sale ended this morning, with the switch to the shared bank account sale [yesterday].

I've settled into this as my favourite level 4 TP-farming toon, taking the Anger's Set off the boat to dive right into quests (often in this order: Dirty Laundry, Bookbinder Rescue, Sunken Sewer, Depths, Sunken Sewer, Storehouse's Secret, Kobold Ringleader, Home Sweet Sewer, Miller's Goods, Durks, WW)
Build concepts: Fast melee toon with trapskills, plus some intimidate for protecting/interacting with NPCs. FTP/28 point friendly, no tomes required. can switch between Kensai THF or Stalwart Defender, dumps Dex in favour of Int for Insightful reflexes and an easier time trapsmithing.
Strengths: Very solid '6th man', offering speediness, DPS, trapskills, tankability, UMD and D-Door.
Weaknesses: Very poor will save (triple melee multiclass) and thus reliant on +resistance, +enchantment save and +spell resistance items. Even then, I would expect better saves, extra Toughnesses (blah) and focus upon hate generation from a 'tank'. Poor ranged ability, though UMD-ing damage scrolls provides a better option than bows for this character. Brutal Throw is another option, do note however that Rogue 2 allows for +30% on scroll damage/healing if this doesn't appeal. Surprisingly enough dumping Dex still allows for a generous situational AC while levelling if willing to bother with it, but I prefer heaping on guards on this type of character.

And here's the level 20! Some flexibility with feats/skills of course, I'm fond of the D-Doors and Improved Trip, but one could fit in the THF chain instead and Greater Weapon Focus. Skills wise, there's plenty of points to max out UMD/search/disable and perhaps Intim, though I threw some extra points into Balance instead. There's a fair bit of flexibility with regards to the 5 levels after Fighter 12, Rogue 2 and Barb 1 - personally I favour more Rogue levels than Barbarian ones, as I prefer focusing more on skills (and being able to quickly heal/raise a party member) than Rages. However this following Barbarian 6 split does allow one to hit 40 Str through class abilities/levelups/enhancements with no items or tomes on a 28 point build that starts with 16...! (40+str helps a chararacter to stand in front of some larger bosses who like to Overrun hapless players) If curious about the 15 starting Con, it's to even out with Human Adaptability: Con, which allows access to Racial Toughness III (though I didn't fit in Fighter Toughness IV on this character, so that can be a bit moot.) On a 32 point build accessed through favour, a player might have access to more resources such Dimension Door scrolls (unavailable in shops, though found in many higher mid range-high level chests) and stacks of haste potions, so the Dragonmarks might be swapped for other feats. One might drop starting Con down to 14, and bump up Str to 18, or instead throw those 6 points into Charisma, and taking the Force of Personality feat and an extra Toughness (probably swapping some feats around for Shield Mastery and more Toughnesses/save boosting feats to make for a heavier tank).

I prefer to have at least one level of healing in and one level of improved speed/ sprint boost and focus on having decent HP.
Almost anything can work:
WF 1 sorc, 2 barb 1 fighter,
Non WF : 1 fvs, 2 monk 1 ranger...
1 bard, 2 ranger 1 fighter
You want top heavy classes for mixing and decent HP for running through a trap or taking a spell to the face.

Aw boo, they were running concurrently last night. I should have snatched 'em up while I had the chance! :)
Thanks for the advice, folks, I'll definitely put some of it to good use :)
