Muckbane still in game?

I've been farming Durk's got a secret for muckbane and I can't seem to find it - Muck has spawed for me about 3 tmes and I've killed him but i cant find muckbane in the chest that is around the corner from where he spawns - or can't find the chest its in if the one in plain sight is not where muckbane is.

Any suggestions?

Keep trying - it can take an age for muckbane to show. I farmed Durks for over 35 runs before I got my muckbane. I've got more plat these days and just buy them from the AH, but I understand that that is an expensive option if you don't have high level toons.

So you are saying not only does Muck not spawn everytime but muckbane doesnt show up in the chest everytime even if muck spawns and you kill him?

Does it show up in the acid trapped chest or the one in the alcove without traps?

Yes.

Don't remember the chest being trapped. The chest is basically where Muck spawns, iirc.
If you are doing the quest just for the item and you want to move onto other quests, I'd suggest buying the item to save time and aggravation.

That is a very kind offer - one I'm inclined to not accept because I'm trying to play as a solo self found toon (I've been following GuntherBovine's journals and just find the concept and his guides fascinating) but I've ran this quest too many times and have gone through a whole armory of low level weapons killing oozes and honestly I'm just about feed up with Durk - his bloody secret, Muck and Kolbold Shamans - I actually just died this last time for the first time as I ran it on elite thinking it would help with the drop and I wasn't paying attention and walked through the fire trap - insta-death - doh! And to think I was thinking of also playing perma-death lol

So If you want to part with one I would be grateful - but I dont have much to offer in return - I is a poor lowbie with little funds :(

Muckbane only drops from Muck's chest (and not every time as others have posted).

The acid trapped chest only appears when the rare witch doctor spawns, and it does not contain Muckbane...ever.

I bought 6 one night on Thelanis 2k each Kept 2 gave the other 4 to Random people Since I have had 1 toon loot one so have 3 now and don't use them..

From my experience Muck has a roughly 30% chance to spawn, and his chest has about 30% chance to have a Muckbane in it.

If the above is correct then if you loot his chest 3 times you have ~65% chance of getting your glass club.

I am pretty sure someone in my party looted one about 2 weeks ago, so at least at that stage they were still dropping.
I remember farming for this and it took a few tries but if you have an invisibility clicky it can be very fast. Also anyone know it drop on casual, because if so that might make things somewhat easier for you?

Next you can farm for a Muckdoom ... I love The Pit and run it often but it still took me 6 months or more to pull one. Have 2 now though, good times.

I've had chars that got Muckbane on first run, and other chars that ransacked the dungeon chests before Muck finally got kind to me.

while you can't craft (or find) weapons that are both everbright and ooze bane (muckbane is glass and oozebane), you can crafts handwraps of [lesser] oozebane (also add acid touch for most of the low level oozes with no increase of ML). This can often be as roughly as much as a hassle as farming a muckbane, with the added bonus that being able to craft invulnerability and adding a +1 to the handwraps often takes part of the process.

I can't recommend doing much more with crafting with an unsupported toon (or otherwise without a shared bank), but these items pretty much justify the little work needed to make them.

As I am a THF - I went to Korthos and gave away the extra Muckbane to a new player to pay it forward - I'm not sure if the new guy realized how much effort he was sparred but i told him of the items semi importance against oozes and how I lost my +2 greatsword and a whole slew of +1 and masterwork weapons trying to grind Muckbane out...

uggghhhh.....
every single toon I make runs the pit once, solo, at level 6 on norm as a 'build check'. then hit every LFM for the pit while in level range. Never pulled a doom. get in a party of complete newbie first timers walk them through every single part of the quest explaining every room and how to complete, 2 hours later both pull dooms.

seems to me about as many people that know the pit know VoN5&6 and I'm one of 10 of them. Had to take over the lead on VoN5 on my 3rd ever run cause no one knew what to do but me and have had to take over the lead just about every single time since, same with the pit.
just glad the SoS comes up on 20ths unlike muckdoom , don't expect i'll ever get on of them. Afew bloodstones, RoSS , but nooo, no muckdoom for me.

Neither. It's running it on casual that most likely does.

Don't break your weapons.

Buy or craft an everbright weapon. True law of everbright or true chaos of everbright. For handwraps true law of bleed or ooze bane.

Check the AH. I see a lot of cheap muckbanes going anywhere from 2k to 25k on Thelanis constantly. I bought my muckbane for 5k.

I have a pile of em in a bank somewhere. Bottom line is don't go out of your way to get one. The quest is decent xp and kind of fun at level, so run it but don't farm it all day. Any everbright weapon will kill oozes. Returning throwers are also nice. Make sure you bind and attune your weapons if you are fairly self sufficient. There are too many situations in the game where a rusty or slime can come out in the thick of a fight and if you haven't bound your weapon it could quickly end your life of luxury. You don't need a bane weapon to kill oozes. All muckbane really has going for it is the cool blue glassy appearance.

Pulled Doom out of the pit after about 5 runs on one of my toons. With Muck, it's not uncommon to have to run 20 before it drops.
