View Full Version : Question about Sora Kell set

Does 40% spell damage stack with anything? Particularly, does it stack with intermittent 75% bonus from Infused Chaosrobe?
[Edited] Apparently Wrath of Sora Kell set bonus is "only" Greater Potency VI, hence does not stack. Still, do things like Corrosion, Potency, Inferno, etc. stack with Infused Chaosrobe?

According to the Wiki, it does not stack with any other item/potion effects.

EDIT: My understanding is that no spell boosts (of any kind) stack, including permanent with temporary. I'm not particularly familiar with the Infused Chaosrobe, but the descriptions for things like Potency/Corrosion/Inferno/etc explicitly state they don't stack with other items. Presumably that means the robe too.
DOUBLE EDIT: Apparently the answer is in fact no: http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=327278

wiki says no. Acts as Greater Potency VI.

I see. AND the boost does not necessarily match the spell. Oops.
Still, I think my sorc will wear it when he gets to level 14. Mostly for Displacement guard.

Displacement Guard?
Are you confusing it with something else?

It has Trace of Madness, so he can craft Delirium (a.k.a "displacement guard") onto it.

Ah - he's talking the Infused Chaos Robe/Docent - not the Sora Kell set.
Me confused.

in answer to your question the sora kell set bonus grants:
greater potency 6 (listed as 40% spell damage).
+2 to hit and damage (it seems to stack with everything ive found)
as it is giving greater potency 6 it does not stack with any other gear, although other gear may override it (a spell damage clicky for example, or a superior potency item). It stacks fully with enhancements and metamagics.
In order to get the set bounus you can use either upgraded sora kell items or non upgraded ones, or any mix.
I find it a useful set for spellswords and battle clerics, but in both cases you will probably want to find somewhere else to slot toughness and heavy fort as the sora kell set ocupies the helmet slot - thus replacing the more typical minos helm. Further more you will want to get either 3 min spell boost clickies (such as superior ardour for a cleric) for the spell damage types you use most of the time.
I curently use this set on metaphysical, my 'tukaw' spell sword build along with the epic rock boots and spell damage clickies for acid and cold. I find the greater potency 6 is enough of a bonus to cover my reconstructs, but I use the clickies to get the most bang for buck on my damage spells.
Considering that the upgaded set offers +6 to strength, wisdom and charisma, +13 to intim and diplomacy and permanent true seeing along with greater potency 6 and stacking +2 to hit and damage it is an excelent allround set for a typical mele/caster hybrid build. Id recomend for spell swords, battle clerics, paladins, monks, maybe rangers.

Also note that 40% applies to healing spells, or at least it seems to enhance them. Tested this the other night spamming CCW on a friend with and without the Sora set on and it clearly increased the amount healed.
Is this the case or was I just getting lucky with the set on and rolling high? Sorry, don't have maximize right now to fully test it.

That's because healing spells are affected by Potency. Devotion is just a limited form of Potency, just like Inferno or Corrosion. Since Sora Kell works as Greater Potency 6, it'll give a 40% boost to any level 6 or under healing spell.

Thought it did, but wasn't quite sure. Thanks for the info.
Side note, not getting rid of that set is getting harder and harder.

As for the to-hit bonus stacking, it's an untyped bonus. I don't think it stacks with other untyped bonuses, but I'm not postitive on that. It will stack with competence (crafted battle skill / goggles of insight) and exceptional (tod set bonuses.)
maybe rangers.Rangers with umd, definitely. Without? Maybe.

I know for sure that it stacks with the to-hit from the korthos angers wrath set bonus which is also untyped.
If you swing a weapon and have a blue bar at level 11 sora kell is the bees knees.

It sure does stack with those older +2 to hit items like spectral gloves, not sure about crafted +to hit bonus.

My paladin wore the set mostly for self healing(+2 to hit & dmg is nice too). His healing amp was so high that 40% was enough. I would recommend the set for any one who plans on doing 3 paladin lives. The only down fall is you can't wear Minos.

Yeah, would be a big downside if I didn't have the Tharak Bracers that give toughness. But since I have those I just need to slot Heavy Fortitude. Guess I'll worry about that when my tank comes full circle and is a Paladin again*.
* Paladin > Fighter (I'm here!) > Barbarian > Paladin > Fighter > Barbarian > Paladin > Fighter > Barbarian > Paladin (END)

Yeah I put on Minos at 11 and take it off at 13, I feel like I gain more from the set. I don't have those bracers yet. The heavy fort will be from Nightforge necklace or Garments of Equalibrium
