The Monk past life says that it gives a +1 to damage rolls. Does this +1 to damage apply to ranged and melee weapons or just melee? The reason I ask is that my Artificer already has 3 Ranger past lives and I was wondering if it would be worthwhile to grab three Monk past lives for a total of +9 damage per shot. Thanks in advance!

I am pretty sure its just melee dmg...but I have not tested it out...kinda curious myself.

*Posting so its easier for me to find this thread to check on the answer

Yep, it's all damage rolls not just melee.. though whether you'd go through 3 whole lives for just another +3 damage is another matter :)

Still, could be worthwhile if you were doing the zen AA kind of build since you'd be using a bow regardless (useful in all lives), and then that'd be a whole +27 to +45 bonus damage on a crit, depending on whether you're in earth stance & using the bow of sinew.

Yep it definitely stacks for a total of +9 with 3 monk and 3 ranger. There's a screenshot floating around somewhere.

On the bright side, playing a monk is extremely fun. So getting +3 to all damage isn't as painful as some other classes.

it applies to ranged combat as well, i asked a similar question a while back and got a good response from someone who's tested it. so monk away, good sir.

Well poo, more past lives to stack on my Arti....

Looooove the class and its versatility. Very interested to see what it can do with a few applicable past lives stacked on it. Ranger, Sorc for the evocation, and now monk...
