I just wasted 1600tp's for nothing.

I had created a mess of a multiclass back in 2006 which was 2 barbarian 9 fighter and 1 ranger.
I wanted to reincarnate him into a pure ranger. So a +3 lesser heartwood shows that it can do up to 3 classes ( which was plenty)

Well now i ended up with another mess with no choices. I started to level as ranger and at level 5 it forced me to take fighter and then barbarian again.

This is not cool!!!!

Am I supposed to have had a photographic memory to what class and what order i had taken way back then?

You Probably should of read the instructions. The process tells you what class you were.

No it did not, I had always only one option it said something like "I did not choose a path previously" Then after clicking that only option it magicly chose a class for me

I think you have to remember at what levels you took which class...I haven't done a lesser recently so I can't remember if they give u any clues as to what level you took which class but I don't think they tell you.

That's the problem asking me to remember what class and in what order i made that guy back in 2006 when i have now over 14 characters is like asking me to remember how many turds i squeezed out last year at this time on this day.

As are clearly explained in both the description of the Lesser Heart of Wood +3 and the instructions you have to click through when you speak to Kruz, the Reincarnation Trainer, before he lets you reincarnate:

When undergoing the reincarnation, you may change the class you took at a number of levels equal to the number after the + on the Heart of Wood.

Thus, a Lesser Heart of Wood +3 allows you to change the class you took at -3- levels.

You want to change the class you took at 11 levels. (turning your Barbarian and Fighter levels all into Ranger)
You'll need several reincarnations for that.

It's functioning properly: Once you used all three of your class changes, you then had to level up in the classes you had originally taken.

Though it's unfortunate that you did not get the result you desired, it is ultimately your responsibility to read the instructions, and make sure that you understand the feature you are going to utilize.

It sounds like it's working exactly like it's supposed to. A +3 heart is not enough to reincarnate a 9 fighter/ 2 barb/ 1 ranger into a pure ranger. You would need 2 +5s and a +1, or 4 +3s, or some other combination totaling at least 11.

Edit: dev ninja'd

I only had 3 classes! Barbarian , fighter and ranger
On the heartwood it does not say 3 levels of any class you chose

Very confusing and expensive mess thanks!

Here is what the item description says: Lesser Heart of Wood +3 (http://compendium.ddo.com/wiki/Item:%2B3_Lesser_Heart_of_Wood)

"You will have the same character class at each level that you had before by default, but the +3 on this item will allow you to switch the class you trained in at any 3 levels."

That part was highlighted in the in-game item description.
It was explained in more detail and with examples in those instructions that Kruz made you read before you could reincarnate.
The pertinent parts there were also highlighted in a different text color.

It is unfortunate that you had to discover the hard way that your assumptions about the function of this feature were incorrect. In the future, I'd personally suggest asking any questions you may have first, before you reincarnate.

Well now i know yes, but you guys need to make the description in the DDO store a little better because i cannot imagine how many people that tried this for the first time did the same mistake.

Can you now tell me this. I now trained first 4 levels ranger then a few in fighter and barb and again fighter with total 4 ranger, 6 fighter and 2 barbarian. So if I now choose to level him to 20 this way and want to TR into an artificer, which one of those 3 classes is considered my primary class?

Whatever the Dominant class is. Depends on what levels you take from 13-20

So if i take only ranger from now until 20 I am guaranteed to have ranger past life?

Yes.

Dominate class is also identified by what icon shows up for you in the party. (needed in those 10/10 splits.)

I am having the same problem...first of all i think you meant you were trying to get rid of your 2 barb 1 ranger to make a pure fighter hence getting the +3...you didnt do anything wrong...i believe it is bugged...i bought a +3 lesser yesterday and tried to reincarnate...luckily i knew that my first lvl was rogue (because i am currently 2 rog/ 10 wiz rogue garde) and the first lvl is always rogue in this build...when i first enter the reincarnation (bringing me to the character generator), it has my first lvl as rogue and will not let me choose any other class...i have done numerous lesser reincarnations in the past and know how it works...it is definitely bugged and needs to be fixed promptly please.

wow old thread...but still doesnt work properly

You can only have 3 classes on a character at a time thats where that comes in a +3 heart can only change 3 class levels while not exceeding the 3 class limit on a character

a +3 heart could change your barb lvl and 2 of your fighter levels to ranger if you read the hearts more closely you will see the each + only changes 1 level

+hearts work perfectly well if you use them as they are designed never had a problem with them and have used them several times.

not really sure what you mean "if you use them as they are designed". i have done many + lesser reincarnations and they all work the same...it isnt science...you buy a + 1,3,5 lesser heart; go talk to kruz and tell him you want to lesser reincarnate...type your character name in...log out...click reincarnate on your character...type in the name again...this takes you to the character generator for the first lvl...and you should be able to pick a different class at this point...but it isnt doing this...im not new to this...ive been playing for 3+ years...it is bugged

It may be that you are using the "free" lesser reincarnate that was given to every character when U14 dropped. Log in and see if you still have the +3 in your inventory.
