This game can be brutal to newbs. Spent a lot of time today in those harbor groups that get wiped by kobald shamans but hopefully i was able to help a couple people out. Why are some newbs shocked if you give them a couple thousand plat? Guy gave me a Harry beater last weak probably worth more than the net worth of most players i quested with today combined. Thanks to the DDO community that has helped me along the way.

Healing potions are far more useful to noobs than money. 100 Cure Moderate Potions will do much for for them than the +1 Maiming, ooze bane kama the wizard picks up from the AH because it's shiny.

Which is worse: a player who considers helping out to be slumming, or a second player who tells the first that he helped out incorrectly?

Neither, its the one who negatively comments on both......

Probably me. It's still right though.
A good pile of appropriate cure potions is worth any sword a lowbie could buy.

Well on many occasion while in the Shroud I have given away to players enough small and medium ings to make at least 2 items.
And only a week ago I was sat outside the Orchard waiting for it to reset and Ping I get a tell asking me to join this guys group to farm so taps, I ask him how many does he need and I think it was 7 so I give him 7 taps and decline his party offer. He was slightly shocked but what the heck people helped me when I 1st started. The thing I will not do is give to anyone that asks me for something if I have not offered it 1st

When I TR or start a new character, I'll try to make a few unbound "Invulnerability" shards so I can craft robes/docents/armor of invulnerability for new players who a) don't annoy me, and b) are willing to wait a few minutes for me to craft it for them.
At low levels an invulnerability item is probably the best thing for survivability, especially if you want to run quests on elite.

While I might raise an eyebrow over the use of the term "slumming"- I know that, when I TR, I'll be spending quite a while in those "slums"- but I surely can't fault the OP for his generosity. That's what sets the DDO player base apart from that of The Game Whose Name Shall Not Be Mentioned.
