You can get 11,400 points for $59.99; 11,700 points for £39.99/€49.99. Which after buying all the basic stuff included in the expansion:
Menace of the Underdark Adventure Packs – 2495 Turbine Points
Epic Destinies (account wide unlock) – 995 Turbine Points
Eveningstar Challenge Pack (free to VIPs) – 695 Turbine Points
Druid class (free to VIPs) – 1495 Turbine Points
leaves you 5720 for the americans and 6020 points for the britons/euros.
The standard edition + the points deal you get when you purchase it was closest in comparison to this, and the only thing you don't get from just buying everything straight with points is the following at the cost of $84.98, €64.0, or £53.52:
280 extra turbine points for americans (20 points less for the britons/euros)
Greater Tome of Learning
Demonweb Spiderling
Druid's Wolf Pup
Spider Cult Mask
Veteran Status (Level 4)
DDO Classics Adventure Pack bundle
I personally don't care about the bundle (have it), veteran status (have it), the cosmetic stuff (mask, pup, spider), or the greater tome of learning so it's a better deal for me to just buy the 11,700 points and pay less to get the stuff I am interested in and get some left over points for update 14 and more.
If you do want the above stuff though, then you're probably better off to pre-order and get the points (the tome alone is 2k+ points isn't it?), and if you're interested in the stuff in the collector's edition then you should just go for it as well.

I intend to just buy it all with TP also.
Will kick myself if the Panther figurine becomes must-have, and if the Elite Spider Mask is too exorbitantly priced when it hits the store, but those are risks I'm willing to take.

The Point Bundles advertised on this page apply only to point purchases made in the DDO Store and reflect what is currently available for purchase in the DDO Store. These standard Point Bundles and pricing are subject to change.
So these points can only be used on current items?

Hmmmm... it is not ONE greater tome...it is
One Greater per Server AND One Lesser Tome for EVERY character...forever...
This was only reason I pulled the trigger... did not care one bit about most of the rest of the fluff... actually think the pets do not belong in this game...is the average player 8 and splitting time between xbox kinectimals and DDO? lol
Anyhow...as long as it does not make the marketplace a nightmare....which it has not yet...to each his own.
(Secretly I hope for later benifit from pets...rather than colored collars and tricks...)
The Panther...I am sure it will be fun occasionally and useful sometimes ...and gold seal...so why not...
I would still think the expansion is good with max deal, if you intend to play long term.

Just as long as you remember, they announced that the MotU stuff won't be avaliable to purchase in the DDO store until U14 in August. You won't be able to access the new content for more than a month after release.
I do admit that this is a great deal on TP, but I hate the idea of not getting it on release. Doesn't mater for me since I have already purchased the two of the MotU Collectors edition (with TP add-on) and two of the second tire bumdles as well.

Oh really? I honestly didn't know this. Oooh. Found the Dev quote from the wiki.
"Can I get Epic Destinies without purchasing the expansion? Can I buy them after the Expansion launches?
You must purchase one of the Menace of the Underdark expansion bundles to gain access to Epic Destinies when the expansion launches. Otherwise your character can still advance until level 25 gaining Epic Level advancement rewards (feats, stats, etc.) but advancement on Epic Destinies will not begin until you gain access to the system. Access to Epic Destinies will also be available for purchase in the DDO Store in August 2012 for 995 Turbine Points."
I think it's just Epic Destinies we can't get until U14 based on everything else on the page wiki (http://ddowiki.com/page/Menace_of_the_Underdark)... Whatever Epic Destinies are; I read it as non-pre purchasers can access the content but our toons will be gimpier due to lacking 'epic destinies' for a while.

I was on the fence about pre-ordering and wrestling with the decision (leaning toward standard edition). But this triple point deal may push me toward not pre-ordering.
At a $49.99 cost the pre-order includes (only listing the stuff I care about):
2495 TP value for Menace of the Underdark Adventure Packs
995 TP value for Epic Destinies
695 TP value for Eveningstar Challenge Pack
1495 TP value for Druid class
1595 TP value for greater tome (I only play one server)
1000 extra TPs
This equals a 8,275 TP value, or 166TP/$1
Compared to the triple point deal, which is 11,400 for $59.99, or 190TP/$1
In other words, I pre-order and I get the stuff I want with 1,000 TP left over. Or I buy the triple points, wait a month or two, get the stuff I want, and have 4,125 TP left over. I'd be paying an extra $10 and waiting a month in exchange for an extra 3,125 TP. I've never bought anything else when it first came out, so I can stand the wait. $10 for 3,125 is 313TP/$1 which is a smoking good deal.
Anyone tell me why I'm wrong before I push the button and I'll be grateful.

Btw, the second best point bundle in this deal is better than buying the bundle they offer when pre-ordering - having an 5050 points for 34.99 compared to 5000 points for 34.99.
So you should really take advantage of this bundle if you're planning on buying the pre-order+points.

If you are extremely tight on cash and not into multiple TRs then taking advantage of the current deal and buying the essential expansion stuff with points is certainly a good idea.
However, if you
- can dish out a few more $/€/£
- have planned to TR multiple toons
- want access to the expansion as soon as it comes out
then nothing beats the value of the $80 collector's edition.

One reason. Lesser tomes on any character on the one server you play on ... for life. Each and every one, til the end of time. Forever and ever and EVER.
With the ability to upgrade lessers to greaters for (i think) 600 TP, you have saved yourself a ton.

lol you think that stuff is gonna be golden playing at release? I expect the first person to step into the quest door to fall into some kind of endless pit of a void and be lost forever in the ethertube. I figure id'll take at least a month if not longer to tweak druids.
I was surprised at this though. It must be an offering for an alternative route instead of buying the packs for all those that have everything, or at least everything that matters already.

I'm not going to tell you that you're wrong - only you can determine the best possible deal for you.
However, if you can afford it, you can do what I did and get both. I bought the pack that I wanted, and bought the point bundle that I wanted - this way I can still get the pack extras, the earlier entry, and I still have a buttload of points to spend on other adventure packs and whatnot.

If you want the truth, I believe that this could very well be one of the smoother releases to date (I know stop laughing for a moment).
1. They are actually doing a beta for it, not just preview servers like Mornelands and Lamannia, but player involved beta.
2. They know alot is ridding one this being a successful implementation. Maybe more that we know. Future access to other D&D ontenet may ride on this being successful.
3. Long gevelopment cycle. Longer than average I believe. According to Turbin this has been in the works for some time now.
4. Requirement of being purchased. Unlike all updates to date, they are requiring that the community buy this one. They will definatly be more interested in a beter execution knowing the extreme backlash from the customers.
Don't get me wrong, as a software developer myself I know that it is a challenge to produce flawless bug free implimentations, but all of the above items go a long way toward providing them incentive to "get it right". Sure there will be issues, primarily in balance I believe. But for the most part I am optomistic about this release.

It's the xp tomes that make the difference really. If you have several toons you want to tome up, the collector edition probably remains the best option.
