is it really necessary???

even if turn it off so you don't see it... it's would still be functioning on the server

doesn't that use resources to send that info out to each character?

What purpose is it for anyway? I mean not that you're being attacked in public zones [other than Cove/Mabar I guess] it seems to be useless... is it for PvP?

if for PvP... couldn't you just make a PvP zone somewhere and take it out of the taverns?

and in the process take some of the mindless chat from the Harbor channels.

Between the Aura spam and elevator music in public zones... doesn't that possibly contribute to lag somewhere?

I know sound takes up alot of processing power on a computer... unless you can turn it off, not just turn it down... it's still sending the info.

In the interest of simplifying an effect and possibly reducing lag, I propose that a paladin aura be applied automatically any time a paladin joins a group as a static buff in your bar and not an 8 second timer that refreshes itself constantly. The buff would apply just by having a paladin in your group and instance. Sure it's not quite the same sort of balance as you'd get the benefits of the aura simply by being grouped and instanced with the paladin and not by "being close" to the paladin. Sometimes you have to make some sacrifices for the sake of simplicity and lag reduction. 2wf'ers know all about sacrifice for simplicity and lag reduction. Let's get these auras in line.

Believe it or not you can take damage in public areas. Falling is one way. I know I tend to jump off of anything I can for my own amusement. Another way is if you leave a quest without finishing it you are not healed to full. If you are dead when a quest completes and release you will likewise be rather empty of health. Healing auras sped up the recovery of said health and let you get back to playing the game.

Also if auras are causing server lag then the game has more problems than players using there abilities.

Edit: forgot about paladin aura... it really should be a constant thing, and /signed to making it less ********.

The biggest annoyance about paladin auras is that it's impossible to read bio pages, because the ridiculously short timer snaps the page back to the top every time it refreshes.

If making it a static buff would help prevent load and make bio pages readable, then

I would rather they make it not snap back to the top, like the way it used to be :(

I know those are needed...

but then again you could buy from bartender/Silver Flame to regen.

The Aura of Good what I was referring to since it's constantly refreshing over all the people in public zones...

just seems like a waste of a lot of information needing to be calculated and sent.

and why would reading bios even be important???

how about this...

Why is Aura of Good actually needed in the public zones?

The short ticker on the Aura is the issue, and I've never understood why it's not area effect constant.

I don't mind that so-called "Aura Spam". In fact, I find it nice that I might benefit from some unknown player's toon in a public area. :)

It's like "free beer !" to me. ;)

If it's there, it's there.
If it isn't - it isn't.
I just don't bother otherwise.

/signed for making the aura a static buff that applies to all party members.

/not signed x10 for getting rid of the music in public places.
