I cannot count the number of times my Barbarian has gotten her behind spanked in a quest!

Not a self healing light monk, huh?

Mine doesn't even get touched in there. She solos out in Amrath, too (even the named pit fiends). Dex/wis light monk FTW. :D

Oh boy...yeah, I'm a lvl 17 light monk, I can self heal.
But it took me forever to take down the wf pallies, and once I got surrounded, it was over.
I tried to draw them out one at a time, but they weren't havin it.
Maybe I need to get to lvl 18 at least before I try soloing that again.

Yeah, my lvl 20 WF dark monk doesn't have any real problems there either. Lvl 17 might be a bit low to solo in that area for a melee, barring some high end gear, etc.

Yeah, the paladins have some ridiculous AC/HP. My monk has trouble hitting them consistently if I don't have my GH clicky going. But they're really the only challenging enemies in there.

The name of the game is as usual, KILL ENEMY CASTERS FIRST.
DO NOT let the enemy artificers live one second longer than you have to. They WILL whittle you down from a distance and you'll think it is entirely the paladin. I always make a point of taking the artificers first, then the paladins, then the ranging trash.

The artificers were no problem. They went down pretty quick, but those pallies...not so much.
They hit pretty dang hard. Think I'm under-geared ATM.

Amrath with 1 person in the zone is super casual. Level 20 DR means you will barely be taking any damage. The Cannith explorer area seems to be broken and doesn't scale like the others. Wow, a bug in DDO, imagine that.

Is this the initial area? The deeper raid entry section beyond the crafting devices is something I've sadly yet to see since hires are forbidden (much like the SubT areas that don't lead directly to HoX or VoD) but I'm assuming you mean the initial circuit with the quest entries...
Stick with it! The Manufactury became one of my favourite places to wander over the last couple of lives (barb splash fighter and fighter splash barb), and I'm sure I would have enjoyed it just as much as a monk in the life before that.
The thing I kept forgetting in there is that the warforged are all stunnable, and the golems are reasonably trippable. There's plenty of narrow choke points so set up a pocket healer at a safe distance and have them take a ticket for their beatdown. Remember to stay mobile yourself and jump out if the crowd goes wild. I found the pallies hard to hit, especially with power attack on, but they (like many mobs) liked to hunt down my hire which turned out to be handy for flank/sneak attack purposes. Save them till last if at all possible, the other melees seem to be more geared toward offense and go down quicker - after the arties as mentioned. The ranger types will try to trip you so I found them to be a good second choice.
The real payoff for me was the loot - Fabricator/Magewright/Tinker sets for everyone!

Get urself a bard hireling with haste, displace and cure critical wounds. Your monk will become a god.

The cannith explorer area is as easy as amrath imo, with just one person...used to solo it on Wruntblender when he was a level 18 last life (fighter 16/monk 2) while trying to get a pair of Fabricator's Gauntlets. They're both super-easy. (The MA and LoB run-up parts, not so much, but that's because they're stupid.)
To the OP, as long as you can hit the paladins and significantly self-heal (light monk abilities probably won't cut it if they're hitting you regularly, but if your healing amp is decent, cure pots may work), you'll be able to get it with some work. If you have some +10 stunners, try stunning the paladins - that'll do a lot for easily killing them. Sadly, I think Kukan-do is level 18 shintao, because that ability would be very useful for the paladins.

Yes, this is just the initial area, I haven't even considered running those quests solo yet.
I'm gonna keep at it, for sure. I want some of that loots.

That level of monk was totally Oz's fault....and I did sleep. After all, what else am I supposed to do in friggin' epic dragon's hoard? :P
BTW, to the OP, dark monk may actually get you a bit more mileage with soloing due to Shadow Fade - but then again, maybe I'm just trying to turn you to the dark side. :P

I am fairly certain that it does actually scale with # of players in the instance.
I get bored and solo clear instances one and two while waiting for (Lob) groups to fill and I am able to tell when someone (or several someones) have entered the instance; my dumped DCs stop working, damage taken increases, and hp of mobs appears to increase.
I have not, however, actually paid enough attention to it to definitavly say that it does scale: but it certainly appears to.
Note that these instances are not strictly "raid" adventure area instances, there are three six-man quests in the area as well.

Same issues for arcane, the artificers and tempest always fall to finger of death, easy as pie. The darn pallies save against everything most of the time. (and you can't energy drain, I really don't like them)

This is what I was going to recommend. I used to have trouble there, but now at cap with somewhat better gear (by my standards that's wearing at least a couple if items that aren't vendor trash) it's pretty easy.
And kukan-do is good not just for the stunning, but for the pulling. Use it on one mob when the group can't see you and wait for it, it'll usually come on its own. They get aggro on you even when they save.
