So, a guy takes over a guild. And requires, ALL members have all toons in that guild, but he in fact is the leader of another small guild.

Is this being a hypocrite?

Shouldn't the guild leader be TOTALLY committed to the new guild he just took over?

yupp. leaders (of guilds and other) need to set the example for members to follow.
expecting others to follow a path that he will not himself follow tells me that that guild
is in trouble so long as that new guy is the leader.

Thank you for the reply. Are there ANY circumstances of having his small guild on the side that might be ok?

I personally say no, A leader is the foundation of the guild. But I am seeing this happening, and the unamed leader seems to think it's ok for him to lie to the members.

I have a small guild "on the side". I never run the toons in that guild, I only have mules in it. My purpose for the guild:

a) It was my original guild (just my son and I)

b) There are times when I want to focus on transferring equipment without having to deal with guild issues.

c) I don't get spam guild invites.

d) My guildies know my mules aren't guilded, most of there's aren't either.

Close to what I see happening except he in fact does run some of those toons.

Leader not earning renown for his guild = bad leadership. I do have one other toon I brought back from the grave to be a Shrouder. First thing I did was move him to the Burners.

if he is requiring things of the members that he himself will not abide by, I stand by my original post
in this thread.
if it's ok for the boss, it's ok for the grunts.

/edit pay no mind to the guild leader part of my sig. It is a guild of one created for a set purpose.
the only other guild on thelanis that I am in is the one I ground out 1750 favor on (before f2p started)
and it is as well a guild of one at guild level 1.

The only circumstance I can think of to justify it is if it's a 2nd/3rd/28th account full of mules or quest openers that get almost zero play time and thee leader wants to keep them from decaying the main guild. In such a case, the leader should also have offered up this side guild for other people's mule accounts.

Here's the thing. A guild leader is supposed to be the standard for the entire guild. People within the guild will inevitably be looking up to him. If this certain guild leader is a "hypocrite", people are going to lose trust in his leadership. And I'm afraid to say, its not gonna be long before this guild might start having guild-imploding drama.

Its happened before.

My personal belief is: “As it is for one, as it is for all”. If he is requiring all members to have all characters in one guild, then he should as well. If the guild leader has multiple accounts and at least one character from the additional account is in that guild, then they all go in. All or nothing is a pretty simple concept, not sure why people want to try to spin or negotiate exceptions. Questionable character if you ask me.

Now this is funny!

The new, now EX leader of that guild, folded under the pressure and left that guild hanging!

Thank goodness the successor is a stand up guy, and took over the reigns.

The person that bailed on that guild created more drama in the 3 days he was leader than that guild had in 3 years!

That's great news he left, as the members are good people, and didnt deserve the nonsense he was dragging them through in less than 72 hours.

Don't send a tell to ask, because I wont mention the guild or the guy that left them.

I frankly feel that it would depend on how much time and effort he puts into the larger guild, as well as the small guild. I acquired a guild a few months ago, and was sooooo excited to get members and hold events and such!

...Then realized I had NO idea what I was doing, and now it's become more of a personal goal to get to lvl 20 and get an airship. If he acquired that guild and grew attached to it long before your guild--yeah, I can understand why he wants to stick with it. I have witnessed and experienced firsthand the awesome wonder of ship buffs and hop onto a team mate's whenever possible--but I wouldn't give up my guild for the highest lvl ship with the most useful buffs always in my reach.

But if he just decided to make one on the side--and lying about it to his members is absolutely terrible--he shouldn't be demanding so much loyalty when he himself can't return it in truth.
