Hi,

Please don't shoot me down in flames but I've been searching a while and having just returned to DDO am not sure what is still relivant.

In theory I'm looking for something easy - a nice DPS TWF build - considering fighter or paladin as I'm not really interested in barbarian (a friend I usually plays with has one) or a monk as I have one of these two.

I'm planning on starting a lvl 7 veteran and have the 32 point build availble but having no level 20's currently don;t have access to the full res route.

Ah, just a thought as this will probably effect suggestions - I usually play with two other RL friends - they will be playing an artificer and ranger (although he's a bit more fickle and will swap all sorts in and out!)

Thanks..

Pure half elf fighter, rogue dilettante.
I doubt it can be more simple than that.

I found this - is this the sort of thing?

Obviously I'd have to drop past life, so drop 1 con.

Although I had read Kensei is not very good now.

The only scope by which people would say kensai isn't good is in comparison to casters or for tanking. It's still one of the best DPS PrEs.

TWF Paladin is one of the hardest classes to build and play right.

What about a classic Exploiter? Super easy and fun to play

Otherwise go fighter. They are hard to mess up.

If you are worried about soloing then I would go Bard/Rogue/Fighter 16/2/2. With UMD that build is very versital. I have one and he is able to do just about everything. With songs and buff spells and the Warchanter PRE he is very strong in the DPS and survival department. ALso Bards are sought after by groups. How many times have you hear "Oh we need another fighter."?

Dont build a paly if you simply want twf dps.

I have one of these - I will be GRing it soon.

A pally can be a great tank. dps however really isn't a word associated though. Not unless you got the gear any melee would kill a city for.

Seems like you want a fighter. I'd say ranger but seems like you want to be more in the action cutting stuff down then going from the back line to the front and back, mixing and matching switch gears.

Now the question is what kind of build would bring the most to the table. Come summer you'll be able to have stelward and kensai (race and class pre's) but that's about 4 or 5 months away and on a first life you can hit 20 even on a slow casual play. So right now i'd say helf is the best bet.

Also the question of would you want to stay pure or mix and match it with say some ranger or monk. Or rogue or bard for umd.

Lots and lots of ways to make a fighter.

On a melee toon the only reasonable choice is a fighter. You have three options, one which utilizes use magic device and evasion for more survivability, one who will shoot for more dps, and one who will obtain high dps, and more action boosts.

Human Fighter(18)/Rogue(2)
Half-Elf Fighter(20)
Half-Orc Fighter(20)

The half-orc will do more dps early on, but will start trailing behind as the game goes on. By level 15 the half-elf does the most damage per swing, assuming sneak attacks, while the human does the least. The half-orc will be useful in long raids, where his 10-14 action boosts let him keep power surging and haste boosting while the half-elf and human are simply auto attacking.

However, the human and half-elf gain the power damage boost IV enhancement through human versatility. This grants a +25% bonus to damage, which is simply massive, especially versus bosses. This is what allows the half-elf/human kensai to have more dps than the half-orc...

Unless the boss has 100% fortification, and the fight lags on longer than the 5-8 minutes that they are doing action boosts. Then the half-orcs higher strength(+3 over a half-elf/human) and power attack enhancements(+3 damage) will take the gold. The problem is that any boss fight that is taking longer than 8 minutes means that you're in a pug, which means that you're probably going to end up taking agro from the pug tank, which means you're not going to be liked by your party unless you reduce your dps with threat reduction gear.

Personally, I love all three of these builds. I have played all three to get 3 fighter past lives, and for fun, and have found the half-orc to be the most fun. I think it just looks the coolest, and the dps loss is not important when you run with good people or on normal.

On a melee toon the only reasonable choice is a fighter.
Really? How about a Kensi/Tempest 2wf Dwarf with DWA's? Or a Monk with trash bags wrapped around its fists? A fully self buffed Bard/Rogue/Fighter? Exploiter? Lord of the Blades Favored soul? Clonk? Battle Cleric? Pally/monk/rogue?

If Barbarian is a no then you cannot go wrong with a Fighter 20, however there are tons of alternatives that will give very good DPS.
