Hey everyone,

A friend of mine has asked me to help him come up with something, but I thought I'd double check with the community.

This is more or less what he wants:

- Self sufficiency (after playing a melee fvs, he's been spoiled)
- good DPS. Does not need to be top of the heap, but certainly worth a party slot. (F.ex we sometimes 4-man shrouds.. and reach 1 rounders.. ideally this would be a char that could pull his weight when fully geared)
- would be nice if he had a 'tanky' mode in the few cases when one's desired. (echrono, etc)

Other niceties, can't hurt if he has tactical options (stuns, etc)

My initial thoughts are towards recommending a half-elf light monk to him. With enough healing amp, his fists of light might be enough for most quests so he isn't too cleric-dependant. Also a good wisdom might allow him to CC/quivering palm the easier targets in epics, and should provide some useful AC for the easy raids perhaps? Also the half-elf will compensate for not having ninja-spy sneak attack some, and the metal bypass from shinato should make it easy to find nice handwraps. (banishing of pure good, f.ex, which will work until he has TOD rings and then switches to crafted..)

I was thinking something along the lines of 16 str/15 dex/15 con/10 int/14 wis, the 10 being so he can eventually slot in combat expertise if his AC reaches a decent level, and I'm also toying with swapping out wisdom for con. Levelups into strength perhaps, but again not sure if I shouldn't be putting them into wisdom instead.

If I'm not mistaken, this should also allow him to obtain void IV, which should help vs trash together with quivering palm.

Other than having him equip a paper bag over his head at all times, or a full mask, if he does go half-elf what are anyone's thoughts on how to improve things?

Thoughts? :) [sorry for the ramble-y nature of the post, it's late..]
