heya guys !

Been playing alot these days and began to notice something.
Ive been reading that the EU servers are completely gone and not returning, thats sad indeed.

Now the issue i have is following:
playing on Thelanis i get a MS of 100-150
my internet connection is Fibernet 60, a fiber connection.
Allready tinkered with the Windows Package dist. by using this little app Called Leatrix (it really helps for me atleast)
but not in this game given the location of the servers.

Every ability i use is delayed by approx 0.5 sec, Half the times my character is been warped back to last know locations ie: 1 meter backwards EVEN during Combat, wich can be very frustrating at best.

Casting spells often simply doesnt register, ie: pressing my Hotkeys, animation shows but nothing happens.
Sometimes for 1-3 secs. Wich has caused me some deaths by not being able to use said clicky or ability that would save me

This is on a fresh install of win7 x64 Professional, Located in Belgium
Specs:
GPU: Asus 580 sli @ stock clocks
CPU: i7 960 @ 3.8ghz
MOBO: Asus Rampage 3 Extr.
RAM: 12gig 1600 HyperX Kingston

drivers upto date (im very very sure bout that, my pc is my shrine ^^ )

My question is, is there a Server thats better suited to Europeans in terms of Connection or is it just something i will have to live with... if latter, well sorry but i cant, unresponsivness is a letdown to me atleast, their goes my 1 year vip :(

thx on advance

edit: i just noticed i posted this in the wrong section of the forum, apologies, could someone move it to Technical section, thx!

Welcome back, and welcome to the US.

As another refugee I can just tell that the latency 100/150ms is in the standard range.
I can also tell that it has nothing to do with all the rubberbanding and delay ( lag ) you notice.

The problem is not on your computer, it is not in your line ( I'd really like to have a fibre one... preferably STM1/OC-4 ), the problem is somewhere else and is widespread more or less on all the servers.

If you're German speaking you might want to try Wayfinder, if you don't have close friends on Thelanis already, as it is a new server with low population, so less lag.
Most of the European Refugees from Devourer and Keeper are on Ghallanda, with all those that jumped ship early evenly spread over Thelanis, Orien and Cannith. ( and Wayfinder for the German speaking people )

There's some tweaking done by Turbine from time to time to try to tackle and reduce the lag... but results are not always what we wish.

ah so i see, its an issue thats known.
but yeah the rubberbanding is really getting me. i can imagine how the game would be without it.
all in all turbine is doing a great job on the F2p and other Pay models but the servers themselfs could use some better netcode.

and im not german speaking, im nativly dutch speaking, but i know my languages ^^

Do you get the same lag on other servers or just Thelanis?
Try a test with a new character on Ghallanda to see. I'm on this server playing from Europe and also about 100ms latency but no rubberbanding..

I used to have a problem with locking up from time to time, it actually seemed to be because i was having a sudden spike in data transfer rate (according to the network monitor thingy anyway) so i turned down my connection speed in the DDO options & it appears to have smoothed it out considerably, maybe that could be something worth trying?

By turning down your connection... you mean getting it on a lower bitrate?
Well actually that makes sense, since our/my connection is so much faster then the standard it might actually get rid of the rubberbanding

would like to add that i have this al the time, so even when im downloading something or even when my pc is at idle and just playing DDO, no other mmo has had this issue for me

ive tested 3 servers now and Khyber seems the best *best = still rubberbanding but less dramatic, problem is not much europeans so timezones screw me over there

Thelanis the worst

Well in the ddo game options theres a connections part & it mentions speed.. instead of using auto detect i manually set mine to be a bit lower than i know it to actually be (ok, slower than its advertised as) - presumably the game will try not to access at any faster than that since presumably as far as the game knows faster than that isnt available. I could be way off, but theres no harm trying it at least :)

sweet will try it, i doubt the game can handle 60mb/s thou ;)
Having it on auto atm
