...cosmetic cloaks when we get the underdark update?
I was reading up on the wiki, checking to see if there was anything new and I went to the Underdark launch page (http://www.ddo.com/underdark/ which I'm sure we've all seen) and something stood out to me:
The adventurer with the torch has a cape... that I can see.
Who knows, cloaks this summer... maybe?
Not that I care either way, but I'm sure it would make some people happy.

Haven't you watched the incredibles? All super heroes with capes died! Now I will have to add "no caped crusaders" in my lfm :)

That's a painting, not game images. The painting in no way acts as evidence, or even a hint, of cloaks coming to the game.

While I would like to see visible cloaks, I seriously doubt they will be coming since they have 'too many clipping issues' with hairstyles currently.

yes, yes. that much is obvious...
IIRC, the artwork they've used in the past generally reflected the in-game content.
I've never seen a cloak on a DDO concept that made it to a launcher page before.

We're getting torches that actual emit light?

They seem to make two kinds of splash screens, one type is made using retouched screen shots of actual in-game graphics, and the other uses artist conceptions that often have absolutely nothing to do with what will be in-game. Need I remind anyone of?

Actually, I could see this happening. Currently on live, there are always magical light sources or glowing fungi, or wall torches.
But we're going to be going to the Underdark, far away from Eberron and generally supposed to be pitch black almost everywhere. I've always been kind of sad they didn't have the light spell, or light sources people could carry in this game except for one quest. Especially because its in one quest, that means they have the means to do it. While a lot of people hate Rainbow in the Dark, if everyone could carry a light source, especially not taking up slots, I don't think people would hate that. I think it would make for a cool sense of the unknown for a lot of dungeons, where enemies not actively hiding are hidden in shadow, and you can stumble upon a group of enemies right in front of you that you couldn't see until you were there.

We are going to have to run incense torches every where we go. Just the thought is painful.

Gah! No! That would not be a good way to do what I was saying!

He also has a holstered weapon. I honestly don't expect these cosmetics to come though.

The preferred method being to lose your off hand slot if you want to be able to see?
or maybe only casters, who have Light spells, can function there?

Or Drow, who have Darkvision, meaning they see in black and white in the Underdark.

Think of the griefing possabilites. Puggers wouldn't be able to move with out them and they would do nothing but wimper over voice chat.
"Yep, Pugger going to die."

Perhaps this is the boost to S&B, you can slot the torch in your shield...

Half-Orcs and Dwarves also have darkvision. Elves (and Half-Elves) have Low Light vision.Of course back in the AD&D days there was also spells or items that gave off similar abilities. Unless you have me for a DM, then you're lucky to find a scroll of anything, and forget magic items beyond a +1 or +2 weapon.

In one thread a dev mentioned that they are working on more quests like Rainbow In The Dark... I so hope The Underdark willbe exactly this. And Angel of Vengeance II will be very viable then. Even if it is the *attack here* sign for the group.
If they somehow gave Darkvision to ppl. Black and white sight only. Ah wishes... :)

IIRC the darkness in rainbow in the dark is some sort of magical darkness. That's how they explained darkvision races not to be able to find their way through there.

Indeed but I have a general hope about darkvision implemented.

Reminds me the first time when I was blinded ~ I was absolutely flabbergasted. I actually couldn't see anything! The panic, the mayhem! :D
