I know there's a link here somwhere...could someone just point me in the right direction...I haven't used numbered hotkeys..only mouse click on hotkeys to heal and clast...change equipment etc...and w/q/tab space bar to jump. I want to set up the number 1/2/3 keys and maybe expand into some other stuff (mouse wheel?) so I can heal and cast a bit quicker...where are the instructions? I googled and can find WHAT they do...(defauls) and even kind people saying this is how MINE is set up...how lovely...but how? I have been able to find out that ..say...numbers 1->10 are hot bar 1 numbers one to ten..can I change that so that say...number one is hotbar 18 first spell...number two is hotbar 6 3rd spell or do I just need to rearrange the spells and casts and equipment so it matches the numbers preset? I am used to where everything is on my screen and don't like the idea of rearranging spells...but will do it if I need to..I don't want to know what others do...as I plan to expand slowly and have my own system that works...so just the steps..fairly plainly stated...and what is possible...ps I have spent the last two hours looking but just not in the right place I guess...

thanks ivory

From in-game, press Esc to bring up the system menu (the one with Logout and Quit) and click Options. One of the items along the right is key binding. It's a BIG list, but scroll down a bit and you'll find hotbar mappings. By default, main 1-0 map to the active hotbar, and (I think -- I've had this setup for a long time) number pad 1-6 select an active hotbar.

You CAN map keys to specific slots on specific bars, but organizing your bars into tasks or roles is a better long-term approach, since the key map applies to all toons. On my cleric, I have a 'normal' bar, buffing bar, raid bar, and gear bar. One bar is never actually active, but I remapped R F G C V to slots 1-5 on it for common and time-critical actions.

I did something similar, extending they key bindings to my mouse buttons. For example, "f" is a primary special attack/spell "shift+f" is a primary aoe attack/spell etc. My mouse is similar with speed boost/haste on the forward button and self heal on the mouse back button. whether that is a spell, pots, wand, or scroll depends on the character, but in a bind my instincts take over, and I hit the right key no matter the build.

Also, keep in mind that the first half of the bars 1-10 can have key binds by the in-game programming. For that reason, I use 11-20 as my onscreen click-able bars for things like gear switching.

Yes, I do a similar thing. F, CTRL+F, G, and CTRL+G are always my primary "special" abilities that need to be spammed a lot or have short durations. (SLAs for wiz/sorc; haste boost, stun, trip, and cleave for my kensai/acrobat, fascinate, inspire courage, rage, and haste on my bard; heal, mass heal, divine favor, and divine power for my melee favored soul, etc.). 'H' is always mapped to some form of haste -- stacks of pots on my melee characters, the spell on my casters, expeditious retreat at low levels.

I also, of course, have 12 active bars visible with other things (equipment, spells, etc.), but I like having the most frequently used abilities available simply with keys near WASD.
