Question on Orchard changes

From release notes:

All chests in the Orchard of the Macabre that had a chance to drop Sigil pieces, Tattered Tapestries, Tome of Untold Legends pages, or Shield of Legend fragments now have a chance to drop any of the above. If a chest previously had a specific Sigil piece, Tome page, or Shield fragment associated with it, that chest will remain the best source for that particular item. However, these items can now drop from any of the above chests.


Does this mean you could conceivably completely flag for litany by the explorer chests alone??

That is kinda how it reads... but i also think that is theoraticly possible, but practicly it will be better to run the quests...

That's a good question. I had just assumed you would still have to run the quests at least once.......but that's just speculation.

And I'll NEVER be running Fleshmakers again if so! :)

If you have a complete sigil (from TRing or whatever), you can flag as soon as you talk to Sir Rohine. It's not like Shroud where you have to run the quests.

Well, the way I read it, the answer would be no, as the explorer chests never had a chance to drop sigil pieces.

They did have tapestries in them, covered by the 'all of the above chests' statement ...

Further.....you could farm Tome Pages without ever entering Litany (instead of buying them).

Going to see alot more Orchard groups up now, depending on the drop rate.

They make it sound like the chances of Tome Pages/Sigil Pieces/Shield Pieces will be alot lower in the rare chests.....since they do not currently drop there.

just done a part clear of orchard on lam, no sigils tomes or shield pieces looted from wilderness named but I did get a shred of tapestry from almost all of them. i also poped into vol on elite, got a left pincer and a shred of tapestry from high priest of vols chest.

While I have no love of air elemental mechanics, it's still easy Silver Flame favor. From an XP perspective, EHN is still worth running for first time XP bonus especially since you'll be in the area running at least Ghosts and Vol. It's also still the best place to find the static sigil part.

Pulled shield fragment 5 from Quinny's chest and shield fragment 1 from the giant skellie chest so they do drop in the wilderness chests. Got Tome page III from the skellie chest on a second run

Here is a list of the drops I received from about 20 runs on one toon.

Tapestries : 41
Sigil Pieces: 2
Shield Fragments: 5
Tome pages: 5

This was on a level 20 barb.

Shield fragments breakdown was 2 fragment 1s, and 1 fragment 2,5,6.
Tome pages: 2 page IIIs, one pages 4, 5, and 8.

So they fragments are easier to obtain.

I saw between 5 and 7 chests each run. Of those chests 1 or 2 would be nothing but vendor trash each run although one run dropped only vendor trash. I was seeing 2 tapestries ech run except for the one trash run and 2 others that only dropped one tap. One of the runs dropping one tap yielded a sigil a page and a fragment. So it is random. I will be running another toon trhu to see if the pattern follows as well.

i really like this change.

anytime we have the option of running more of the things i like as opposed to running less of the things i hate for flagging or any completion mechanic is great game design imo. i dont mind spending more time for the same result if its more enjoyable for me.

i really like this change.

Agree. I don't mind running these quests, rares, and slayers during leveling, they're fun and good experience. I don't want to have to grind them out countless times post cap just to try to get a party/guild member flagged, just because the random number generator decided it was going to laugh at us.

This is a great change. Flagging for Abbott was one of the most painful experiences of my life, pulling the sigil pieces I didn't need 1000 times before I finally got lucky enough to get the one I needed.

Definitely a good change! This update really has some freaking good stuff in it!

Sigil: Eye of the Abbot found in the chest of Edeva Yllka, Dread Wraith right after the Dev XP/u13 loot event the other day... I'm not going to make any assumptions about frequency or anything, but we popped about 10 or 12 chests before we got this. We bailed immediately after we got it though, since confirmation is all we really wanted...

Your assumption would make sense they will probably implement running the quests once for flagging...imo
