Hello everyone

I started a new toon, with my love of AA's and Cleric I thought Id mix both, its gonna be a 1ranger/19cleric. Its an elf because atm I dont have helfs. Took the 1 ranger for bow str.

Going to follow the elven AA prest.

The main stats are Wis. Str. Con. in that order (cant remember the actual stats atm) Took the zen archery feat so I dont have to worry about dex. Im gonna work it out so I can mainly heal/ offencive cast and use the bow so when healing mainly I dont use a crapload of mana on offencive casting (other then DP and BB)

Does this sound like a decent build? Keep in mind I will be soloing part of the time with this build.

You need 17 dex after tomes to qualify for manyshot. Without this don't bother with archery.
You need 19 dex after tomes to qualify for improved precise shot. Without this I wouldn't bother with archery (though this is more flexible).

This character concept that you're looking at is one of the hardest to make work that I've tried my hand at. Honestly, if you don't have gear, possibly a past life or two and relevant account options (half-elf and monk) then I wouldn't bother.

In particular, the bar has recently been raised with archery with the change to 10,000 stars enhancement. Due to this change I would no longer make any archer character with less than 6 monk levels. In light of this I wrote up a build here (http://forums.ddo.com/showpost.php?p=4222951&postcount=11). This is a rough sketch which has a decent amount of versatility in the details. There is a link in the OP of that thread with some older AA builds which remain viable healers.

Keep in mind that the usefulness of archery without considerable feat investment will vanish after level 10, perhaps earlier. It's not something you can easily "splash" into. Potentially possible to make the multiclass work, but not on a full-time healer since they're feat-starved too, and have other things to worry about..

The archery is because I really CANNOT stand a pure healer/ offencive caster Cleric before level 12. Im not worried about manyshot either as I wont be taking it. I plan to toss him a paralyzer bow for the mid levels to help a little with CC. Im hoping by the time I get him a decent level (which will take me forever as Im focusing on 6 other toons atm) they'll of released a different cleric prestige that will focus more on offencive casting as that is what i'll be doing in the later levels with minimum archery. The way I figure I'll be tossing a little bit of damage inbetween healing at lower levels without drawing to much agro and keeping myself out of harms way.

Use a two handed weapon. If you have access to 32 point builds then go something like 14 str, 8 dex, 14 con, 8 int, 18 wis, 12 cha on a human and swing a quarterstaff or falchion if you can convince a friendly arcane to cast masters touch or you have cakes.

1 ranger wont provide any tangible benefit and will just gimp your character at high level.

If you want to do the archery thing then just maximize enhancements in it and leave it at that, no need to mess up a good build just for strength shot from level 1-10.

Splashing will make the experience worse as it will put off blade barrier even longer.

My secret for leveling a first life caster cleric is having maximize, empower and empower heal at level 6 to have super awesome radiant servant bursts and then obliterate delera's, necro 1, necro 2 and any other undead heavy quests around. Very easy way to level.

Well I think that YOUR cleric-AA build still viable taking in consideration that can do above average dps for a cleric. I do prefer the 18FVS/1fth/1wizard ,actually in my second life of one.

I agree that if you're not willing to invest in at least Manyshot, you're better off as a melee cleric than an AA one. The other issue for an AA cleric is feats; consider rgr 2 / wiz 1 / cleric 17 to help out there. See my Radiant Archer thread for some examples.

Im sick of making melee clerics, they become useless after level 14, and im premium and yo assume I have dels or the necro's which I dont.
