I'm very excited about the upcoming expansion. I know more information is to be released in the upcoming months.

But, just wondering if purchasing the expansion automatically upgrades F2P accounts to Premium? (would it be better for current F2Pers to wait for the expansion to convert to premium, instead of buying points now to upgrade to premium).

Will the expansion come with Turbine points, or is the price merely for the content? Or will it give everyone a temporary "x-months" of VIP subscriber level?

Community, what do you guys think?

Can't wait to find out more!

It might bump you up to a premium account. Dont think it'll do much more then that.

I would think you are buying the content not account rights, but a bump to premium would not be a bad bone to toss.

The only other expansion pack since Turbine went F2P model is Rise of Isengard Iam going to use that has example. Most likely Turbine probably do something similar to
avoid some of the mistakes of RoI .

It did not uncap anything or give you any of the VIP perks. F2P became Premium and got anything that comes with a premium account, but only if you purchase it from the webstore.

You did not become a ViP if you bought the pack from web store or with TP.
You did not upgrade to Premium if you bought the pack with TP , (still have to spend $$ 1st or be former ViP).

Only the high and mid level editions came with 1000 TP.

You get to be premium by spending money on the game, either by subscribing or buy purchasing turbine points.

If you actually grind out enough points through favor to get the expansion, then you'd still be a regular account. However, that's pretty unlikely to be the case for the vast majority of players, so they'll end up spending some money and becoming premium as a result.

I'm thinking no:

What is a Premium player and how can I become one?

With your first purchase of any Turbine Points bundle, you are automatically upgraded to "Premium" player status! As a "Premium" player, you'll receive a few extra perks just for being a DDO Store customer (such as two extra character slots)!

Did you purchase a copy of the Stormreach edition of DDO? Are you a former subscriber? You're also qualified for "Premium" player status!

The Underdark isn't a copy of the Stormreach edition, therefore no premium.
