View Full Version : Can VoN 5 & 6 Be Duo'ed?

I ask because I primarily play with my wife as a duo. We are what one would call casual players. The only raid we have ever completed has been Chrono. We have attempted VoN5 but are unable to activate all the switches in time to open both doors in the northern corridor. Is there a preferred sequence to it or must one simply be fast enough? I have scoured DDOWiki, these forums and every other resource I can find to no avail. Has anyone done this and if so how?

Many thanks in advance.

Yes, but it requires VERY precise timing. It would also require some sort of very fast movement (Leap of Faith, Abundant Step, Wind Dance, Cannith boots may not be enough) for the four levers at the bottom of South, in order to hit all four then reach the air jet in time.

I tried as my ranger with high jump strength and wisdom, if I reacted flawlessly I could do one side. Stand on the rune, pull the lever, use the rune, jump up and hit the top lever in melee.

The problem child isn't the switches, its the air jets at the end. You need at least a 3rd person to get that done and get to the top in time.

Beside the timing issues with the rune/lever/plunger doors in the northen corridor.

There is also a part where 4 levers on each side of a square column must be pulled almost simultaneously in order to launch another player upwards on a jet of air.

While the northen hall is possible with Really good timing I do not believe it is possible for one person to pull more than 2 of the aforementioned levers to activate the air jet.

There is a post around in the acheivements forums however about 2 people duo'ing VoN6.

Thanks to everyone!

I did mange to activate a northern door once by using the tactic suggested by MrFister and brightfang but was unable to repeat the act. That lever seems to take much longer to pull than the video would indicate. My wife... she's not as agile when it come to these sorts of things. :o

I was aware of the four levers and the air jet but DDOWiki is rather vague on how much time is allotted for the action. I doubt we could do it given we can't even get to it.

Well, thanks again everyone. We may just have to forgo this one or find a someone willing to lead our sorry butts through it. I'd hate to put anyone through that.

EDIT:
I +1'd as many as I could. I'll catch the rest later.
Many Thanks!

I approve of Aggddo's comment in the video. :D

Easiest way...

1 person responsible for 2 levers
1 arty pet on another lever
1 arty pet on another lever

The other person gets shot up to deal with mobs / traps.

Harder but still possible without pets.

Hirelings arent allowed in raids so cant be used as a solution.

What server are you on?

If you are on Thelanis we(i.e. my guildmates and I) wouldn't mind the two you joining us in there at all.

We would just have to work out a time.

A long time ago (von6 has been changed since then)

my friend's Rgr did both runes and the lever on one side of the Von5 hallway by himself.

and has taken down all three pillars by himself in Von6.

That tells me that both can be duoed.

VoN 5 has been Duo'ed countless times (we used to run it this way for XP in the Day) and VoN 6 has even been soloed on Normal more than once.

If you're on Sarlona, I have a mutitude of characters and guildies (both at level and above level) who would be willing to help you out, if you wish.

Shoot me a PM and we'll set something up, if you're interested.

Avidus,

Thank you for the generous offer but we are on Sarlona.

Even more embarrassing: We are 18th and 19th level (sadly, one can reach cap without doing squat about raids), so any group we went with would essentially be doing so gratis as epic is out of the question. I don't know how Thelanis responds to LFMs advertising "VoN5-6 Newbs Looking For Guide - Lvl 18-20", but the Sarlona crowd takes a dim view of such. :(

There's really no reason to. People run those all the time at all different levels. The hassle of SPECIFICALLY building toons with the Wisdom, Strength, AND having artificer pets, means you really just shouldn't.

At the same time, once DRUIDS come out, with pets, then a melee druid with the Strength and Wisdom plus the awesomeness of being a druid, yeah, two of them will be able to kill in there.

I'm perfectly willing to do a loot-only run of von 5/6 on Sarlona.

Check out this (http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=353779) link, too, Tobril set up a channel specifically for people looking for raiding help. Lots of very experienced people on there at most hours of the day.

It wouldn't be gratis, because Von5/6 are regularly run raids by many people of all levels.
Sure, there would be no XP, but the raid completions and the loot are why it is run so often.

I'd venture to guess that your best bet would be to either:

1. Stick it out with the LFM. At that level if you are just going for a completion, it won't take 12 people to do it. You could probably get by with 6 quite easily. (or less if you want to do the lever timing thing.)

2. Tag along on any LFM you see up for it. Just let the leader know it will be your (and your wife's) first time on the raid.

I may take you up on this CheeseMilk. I'll have to get the wife's OK and make sure the kids are otherwise occupied. We mostly play on weekends so we have a block of time devoted to just the two of us. I'll shoot you a PM when can I co-ordinate with her. Thank you so much for this! WooHoo!

Look up Incrediberry or Saurfang on Sarlona as well. I'd be happy to join you.
