I realize it's just what happens, but the downtime today on Thelanis cost me 3 crafting levels in each school, several shards I had applied already and all the crafting materials I used for leveling/creating shards.

And I was really working on my leveling right up til I was booted off, so I used 2 major crafting experience pots, 20% success boosters and purchased a number of essences from the DDO store to make it happen.

I really wish DDO had a way to reimburse players for the points spent, at least. It's very discouraging to lose your progress and materials when something like this happens.

Contact Account Support, you might get lucky. Especially if you made the purchases right before the downtime.

Their servers are set to perform routine backups every few minutes. When a crash occurs, it reverts to the most recent back-up. That's what happened here. =\

You don't have anything to lose by contacting them.

I opened a ticket when I realized it. Is there a different process for contacting account support?

This is the ticket response:

We apologize for any inconvenience a recent server crash may have caused you. Unfortunately the In-Game Support team is unable to grant, replace or restore any in-game content or quest progression that may have been affected by the server issue.

I guess spending your TP counts as in-game items? Bah.

Thanks for the help. :o

I would PM Victorie or QuarterMasterM to see if they could do anything for you.

You might need to be logged in at myaccount.turbine.com to view this, but it includes an email link and telephone number. It might also be quite helpful that you submitted a ticket at the time of the error, as that's probably the first thing they'll ask. You'll want to have your receipt confirmation emails handy as that should help them pin it down:

It's not a huge amount of points, but it's insanely discouraging.

I was trying out a new server, leveling up a totally new character without twinks or buddies to see what it would take to get a decent crafter. I was having fun.

But now I'm really grumpy over losing my time, my hard-won essences and my TP. It would cost Turbine nothing to just replace the essences. Not a penny.

It would be a gesture of goodwill that would let me put the whole mad craft-as-many-shards-as-possible-before-the-pots-run-out now *poof* all-gone experience into perspective and move on.

But after that ticket response, I have logged off. And probably won't log back on to that server. It's a mental thing about redoing the work I've already done and rebuying stuff I already bought.

Not ranting, just discouraged at the ongoing lack of concern about customer service.

Sorry, but I have to disagree.
I was crafting at the moment of downtime too, and today I have my materials/deconstructed items back, as if I not crafted anything, so it's true rollback.

EDIT: Nvm didn't noticed you said purchased essences from DDOStore.

Yes. An in-game ticket never solves anything, but Account Support sometimes does.

Game -> DDO
Support Team -> DDO Account/Store Support

Explain the issue in detail, reference the purchase order number, cross-reference order time/date with server crash messages put on the forum by Cordovan. I'm not guaranteeing it will work, but I've seen positive results.

Excellent advice, thanks! Details might help. We will see. :)

This really gets to me when items have been purchased with real currency.
I dont know what laws are in place, but when I lost a Heart of Wood that I had purchased due to a mule character bank error, I was furious.
It wasnt until I heard stories of some people losing entire bags of rare things that I felt better that I had only lost 1 thing (1 thing that I actually cared about.. I actually lost the entire banks worth).
I may have cost me 2 or 3 real life dollars. This is a problem that is going to have to be rectified by the lawmakers soon.

DLC need the same respect as physical objects when it comes to real world currency.
I dont play any other online games that use real world money so I cant say what other companies do.

I would like to see characters backed up on the server and my end when I log out and be compared when I log back in. If there is a difference then it would automatically be flagged to be looked at by staff.
