I've been noticing more and more wizards and sorc's Blowing through their SP and then piking hte rest of raid or quest :'(.

Divines get YELLED at if they don't drink a pot but noone seems to mind the wiz and sorc not drinking.

this is funny to me.

believe me, you will hear the complaints if a caster runs out of sp. "NEEDZ MY HAGE" :)

Maybe the person that plays that caster is the same person that plays a healer. Thus he is saving the pots for his healer. I do that myself, only carry a small amount of sp pots besides my bauble, necklace and ring.

If I'm about to run something that really should require an extra amount of sp, I get the pots from bank. If not I just try to manage my sp better.

It's supposed to be the other way around. The casters run in and blast/insta-kill everything while the melee's trudge along with nothing to do. :)

If a sorc blows out all his sp on a raid boss, expect him to have done at least 40 000 damage. Which is probably 3 times as much damage as the best melee in the group has done at that point.

The reasons why casters don't get yelled at when they blow through their SP in 30 seconds

No matter how much melee types love Haste and Rage <- They have learned that they can still go on without it, or can replace it with potions which are cheaper then cure potions.
Caster Fail does not equal 0 Party DPS - Cleric/FvS/Bard's Fail can equal 0 Party DPS in a non-self sufficient group
Melee don't care if caster is out of SP, because it is one less person "STEALING THEIR KILLS"

I am not a proponent of Cleric/FvS Heal Only with SP, or in chugging potions as that's usually an indicator of deeper issues bottom line being the current group is not ready to tackle what they are attempting to tackle. However, those who play Cleric/FvS classes usually learn early SP Management, which includes Highest and Best use principles as they have spells split between Active Offensive and Active Defensive measures. Where Arcane Casters sometimes just attempt to burn down the world.

Exactly. It's good for an arcane to run in first, get aggro and be hit for all them Torc, Conc Op, Demon's Consort, Lion-Headed, Lifeshield etc. etc. to proc, to round them mobs up and burn in numbers. You won't run out of SP handling the quest this way, though you will surely get hate tells from some "tanks" explaining how wrong you are :)

Arcane admittedly could run out of SP trying to hang back and compete with melees shooting mobs one by one. Not very SP-efficient but in return melees will be even or even prevail in kill count and may even complain afterwards about them arcanes being pikers :))

Another point to keep in mind is that, say, a cold savant sorcerer tossing a maximized empowered Niac's Cold Ray spell-like ability with spell point regen is far generally closer to their 'have sp' dps then a cleric tossing cure light wounds on spell point regen is to their 'have sp' healing.

I suppose i delay the damage so it lasts nicely til the end! :D Not that it matters in any sense, but people wouldnt complain then right?
Its funny how human mind works sometimes, isnt it?
