I have an Archmage and a Pale Master that I would like to TR, but was wondering what gear I should make sure I get beforehand assuming that I TR into another caster, maybe even a Wizard?
(What can I say - Wizard Past Life rocks ^^)

The usual gear that keeps you alive.
Self crafted damage clickies (Inferno, Freeze, ...). Lots of them. Potency item(s) that are as low level as possible.
Shroud SP item. Torc.

I'm probably in a minority, but I don't think arcane need much gear. Just use clickies to max your damage, equip some lore items, hp items, fort, and the max int/cha you can use at every level. And getting all of those is trivial with crafting.
What else would you need?

You want a Torc. Inifinite spell points while leveling is so much fun, I can't even begin to describe the awesomeness.
You don't *need* a Torc while leveling because you obviously didn't have one while leveling the first time around, but it is so amazingly sexy that you'll wonder how you ever lived without it.
Also, Superior Inferno III clickies and Superior Inferno IV clickies make life easier.
The Stormreaver's Napkin from Reaver's Fate is also nice.
Concordant Opposition is lovely on Greensteel and stacks with the Torc.
House Phiarlan Pendant of Time - you can keep it when you TR.
The Archmage ring and belt from ToD are nice. The Pale Master ring and belt from ToD are junk.

I'll be TR'ing my wizard into a barbarian soon. I realize that's a different TR path than what you are persuing. However, there may be some useful information/feedback in a thread I created not too long ago:

some basic low level Arcane equipment
Robes of Duality http://ddowiki.com/page/Robe_of_Duality
Eternal Wands - Get a couple - They help more at the lower levels when SP is tight
Appropriate Power/Wizardry Item to cover levels
Level 7
+2 Int Tome - This will get you more Skill Points to spend starting at Level 8 and up your Primary Stat on Wizard (Recommend a +2 Int Tome at 7 for anyone)
Level 11
Greensteel Items - Exceptional SP and Exceptional HP

Morleth's Docent is a trade in from the Necro2 series I think. No ML makes it awesome for WF casters at low level.

Yeah, I've found it very useful for TRing. I don't think most people even know about the Necro Scarab trade ins. Its kind of a strange process that could really use a redo into the barterbox system.

Then Torc/ConcOp, maybe a Gird depending on next life. Couple hundred K pp for haste pots and such.
If you are TRing your crafter, lots of SF, Yugo and Cannith marks first. Consider SF and Yugo pots too.

I've never understand how a torc equals "infinite SP", unless of course you feel like standing in front of an archer shield blocking for a minute or two..
Makes for slow soloing, and never works in a group/
Wizards don't need much to be effective... If you have any crafting skill, you can make a Sup Potency IV ring. SP and HP Shroud item are super nice. A +9 INT weapon from the Shroud is also very good. Stormreaver napkin is very solid.

Haste pots? On a wizard?

A stack of Yugo pots is a good idea.

How about this. Torc = enough SP that you'll never run out of spell points even if you spend them like a drunken sailor.
Just the natural flow of a quest gets you hit enough times that you get back an enormous number of spell points. If you are gathering up large swarms of enemies and then killing them with AoE spells, then you'll have an opportunity to take enough hits that you can get big chunks of your blue bar back without taking big risks of dying and without wasting a lot of time.
In my first life, I had to carefully plan what I could cast and turn metamagics off for much of the time. In my second life, I had both Maximise and Empower on for the entire quest in every quest as soon as I was able to equip my Torc. If you are getting hit, it makes an enormous difference. If you aren't getting hit, then you're playing a lot less aggressively than I play. If you're going to stand in the back of the party and wait for everyone else to establish aggro before you throw a spell, then a Torc is probably not going to do you much good.

I subscribe to the carnifex up to 10 or so along with crafted robe of invuln with lrg slot for extra 80sp. :) I am lazy though and do not look for gear for a tr. Just goes by too fast ni the low lvls.

I've found on a TR and on new baby toons that any item with the highest level guild augment you can wear is very useful. If you find an item with a slot that you can't wear at lvl 1, just deconstruct it to the base item and then you can wear it. For medium slots, +15 HP and +60 SP means quite a bit at low levels.
Also, the Sharn Syndicate chain quests offer +2 stat items with no ML.
