I'm going to start off by saying that I'm not putting this out to have any one in it judged for anything. I'm writing it to entertain those who read it. While I am a little proud of what I did today, I also don't mean this as any sort of epeen type of thing, and apologies if it comes off that way.
I had just finished running some challenges and was trying to figure out what I wanted to do with my night when an LFM caught my eye. It was for hard schemes of the enemy, and it had only the sorceror and the artificer icons lit up. I thought to myself, "I don't have the jet boots yet, let me see about joining this." So being that I'm undergeared, my CC DC's are rather low, and my HP is not so much, I send a tell to the LFM's leader saying, "What precisley would you like an arcane for, I'm not the best and don't want to disappoint the party." I immediately receive an invite, and the party leader replies, "for fun :)" I think to myself, "well this is my sort of party then"
The party had just stepped in when I joined so I hurry through the wilderness, cursing myself for dropping invisibility when I last changed up my spells. As I ran there people asked for a social skills person to talk to the lady, and I indicated I might be able to handle it. After entering I hasted to catch up and switched to my bluffing hat. Turns out my meager bluffing was inadequate and we killed them and moved on to the warforged party. We prepared to fight them when suddenly the GM pipes up with a warning to stop attacking the door. I look over and see a the fighter pounding away on it like there is no tomorrow. The party, through silent agreement decides to go get the rare chests and the code. We do the cuircut of the optional area and about the time we finish all the optionals and I'm dropping onto that hidden ledge above the big door's room, the fighter finally manages to anger the defenses.
I decide to stay where I'm at as its a nice perch with cover and room, and none of the enemies can get to me there. The rest of the party drops to the floor and engages. I blast away with my air savant SLAs while they do a combination of repeated: retreats, deaths, last stands recoveries, and re-engagments. It was not going well for them. I had my trusty stack of heal scrolls though and had finished off the last of the magefire cannons before they had re-engaged the first time. People mentioned recalling, the responsible fighter owned up to his mistake, and I managed to convince them to stay, despite them being borderline nekid. It takes a few minutes but I manage to clear many of the irritating mobs while they got repeatedly distracted by the grease spewing dogs. Come to find out the FvS didn't take freedom of movement. I suspect he regretted it, but I figured I could do this myself from my shiny perch either way so I just shrugged to myself and went on.
Finally the last mob died and the titan activated. They started arguing about trying to break the door before it got to them, and fighting it in the center. I piped up and let them know that the titan breaks the door. Being the evil sorc I am though, I stay in my perch and let them lure the titan to the door. Only one dies there, but 3 more die quickly to the golems awaiting us on the other side. I drop from my perch firing off disintegrates at the lil golems and grab stones while running by the titan. The barb is the only other one left standing, with a sliver of health he pulls some impressive maneuvers, dodging titan blasts, golems, and the odd floaty ball constructs. We get around a corner, I finish off the stuff chasing my new-found friend and pull out res scrolls. I res the favored soul first and then begin on the rest. the fvs heals them as I raise them. It turns out though that I missed a soulstone and the titan has decided it's his new home. The wizard, which I'm noticing has a max HP of 212 does some impressive dancing grabs the stone and gets back to us.
We move on, and as we approach the next section I begin thinking to myself, "Oh man, I hope these guys don't want to do the puzzle." Fortunately for my dwindling scroll stacks the party rests and beats down the generators to advance. The found that my disintegrates did decent damage, and I knew there was no more combat before the next shrine, so I burn my SP in disintegrating one of the generators. As we approach the final part of the quest the Barbarian asks me If I had a plan in mind, but I truthfully tell him I've only done this on casual before so If he had some idea what to do His plan might be better than mine.
I started out not quite understanding his plan in my head, but caught on as everyone moved into their designated possitions. My job was to kite all the trash. I was afraid. No one had FoM. To be honest, I whined a whole bunch here. But then I stone/displaced myself and ran around spamming icestorm and my air savant SLAs and it turned out alot better than I thought. My SP very quickly dropped though. I let the wizard know that he had to take my place when My SP ran out, and he preped himself for it. When the time came I retreated to the center and the wizard tok my place... for about 30 seconds... then he fell off the edge. Laughing to myself at the irony I do what I can about the trash with echos of power and my electric loop sla. About this time the favored sol is running out of SP, and someone calls out, "OK its down to 75%" I get this sinking feeling for some strange reason, like we might not make it. The wizard eventually makes it back up top, and I drop what I'm doing, pull out my scroll collection and go to town like never before. I'm switching between heal scrolls, recon scrolls, res scrolls (3 were used on the FvS). The barbarian breaks off the attack, runs over to the FvS, and a short time later the FvS has some SP, then he tells me to hold still for a moments, and passes me an SP potion too. I happily accept, but don't use it as I'm far too busy helping keep people alive, and sadly my SP had no part in it. We get it to 50%, 25%, the FvS is out again, and doing what he can with his capstone blasty thingamabob, I use my last heal scroll on myself. The wizard goes down, the fighter goes down, the other random guy goes down, and its my fleshy human sorc keeping up the WF barb and the WF FvS with recon scrolls. We power through with a victory in the 13th hour.
I'm thinking to myself this is the best kind of victory, the kind that was pulled from the gaping maw of Defeat right before we beat it down. It can't get better. Then the Barb puts his jet boots up for roll... d100 low roll wins.. long story slightly shorter... just when I think things can't get better they do: I gots me mah boots!
Then I realize, I had forgotten to put my minos legens back on after trying to bluff the guy at the start... with ~310 HP and 0% fort I managed to do a hard House C quest and was the only party member to not die. That decided it. I had to share this, I'm still smiling at the irony.
Thanks for reading and good night :)
