Well, not NEW new, but new for some. With the change in placement of the purple, many have found it harder to not overshoot, while still h aving enough jump to get to the last ramp.

A method that was recommended for advanced mario skills only before is now much easier, and here it is:

Barbarian is best for those with more limited resources/level, since 10% stacking speed. (monk i suppose as well has speed, but it's level based, and i'm not sure where it falls).

The Phiarlian Warp Time +50% speed clickie is best, but if you can't have that, be a barb and have haste pot/spell cast on you. Haven't tried this without warp time, but expeditious retreat could possibly work.

Need a feather fall ring (skates on your feet), and some other ring to swap out to. Can't use a clicky, has to be a ring, since you need to turn it off/on. Again, monk abilities MIGHT work for this at low levels, not sure. (High level monks can of course just jump to the purple directly, and don't need anyone's help:))

Jump: i do this with 33 or so, and actually have to wear some armor and take off str items after getting the +30 jump buff. If this isn't self cast, you might also get GH cast on you, so have a combination of items (shields, tower and smaller, heavy plate, etc). Figure out what's best for you. Too much jump isn't good.

Now, head to the shack in the harbor. If you don't know which one, ask in general. Jump off of it to the mast (this mast jump hasn't changed, and it's not that hard with practice. Which it will take, you will suck at first. Jump towards it, and then look straight down with the camera, so you can throttle back and land directly on it.

Have the feather falling ring hotkeyed somewhere easy; i put it on 5. have the non-ff ring next to it, i use 4.

Put on FF ring and jump toward last ramp. When you land, take off ff. Face away from the purple end, and run towards the top of that side.

Here's the other tricky part (The first being the mast jump.) You need to 180 w/o falling off, and slide down, pushing forward toward the end of the downslope. Get some speed then, since you need to jump earlier, after the first line on the up ramp, but before the second. Fine tune what works for you. DO NOT wait to the top, since even with only 33 jump, you will overshoot that purple. If you have overshot it, try to fall down onto it. this is not easy either. EDIT: Since some people have trouble with the 180 (and i did last night after 8 or so beers), you can just land and jump backwards and forwards to get the momentum.

Well, there you go. Some may find it easier to adapt their old method to the new position, but i've found this to be easier for me.

N.B. This will not be easy at first, if you never did risian. I have bad mario skills (I HATE that stupid game), and after just hunkering down and being very very patient, i managed to get it. Those who are old pros and can take the mast jump with ease, and can dial in speed and jump number, this might be faster even if you can do it the old way.

Enjoy! :)

The 180 is tricky as hell. IMO, it's much easier to just land further forward, especially with a high enough jump. Beginning of the flat part of the ramp is roughly the right spot for me. No FF, house P warp drive, 40+ jump.

Also if you see yourself coming in too high, it's a good idea to let go of the forward hey once in the air.

It's frustrating to overshoot, but I've gotten it down to 8/10 successful jumps (lag excluded) in a few hours of practice (completely new to the games), so it's not unreasonable.

My Mario skills are pretty weak and if I can do it anyone can, im running a level 16 barb 2 rogue only buffs are the House P pendant

I made a vid of three runs https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QBPXZrc-HWQ

Just takes ALOT of practice, took me about a hour or two of frustration to get it right. What helped me alot was to turn all graphics on to min possible and I avoid feather fall.

Yep, 180° isn't nice. It becomes much more difficult.

You can stay still in the ramp with FF on to do this way:

1) start running forward and backward;
2) When you reach the back ramp, do a jump to climb it a little;
3) Do not press forward (if using FF, orelse you'll lose speed), just let the character slide forward;
4) When you get over the horizontal part of the ramp, start pressing forward;
5) When you see you went pass the first inclined ramp, press the jump and keep forward;
6) When you pass throught the second inclined ramp press jump again ;

Voi la, you are going toward the coin.

You'll learn to press the jump button in the correct places pretty fast. Just notice that it's much easier using two jumps, so you get impulse from the first jump.

You know, after starting from scratch myself this week, and trying both the conventional method and the "alternative" one, I've come to believe that the former is actually easier -- at least if you have access to the Teleport spell. Jumping for the mast is really tedious, then the jump over to the ice ramp is slow, and when you finally land, you then have to do the back-and-forth thing to hopefully get enough momentum to get the purple. You get fewer blue and white coins compared to doing it "as nature intended" if you succeed. And if you fall, you get nothing.

My success rate with the "proper" way is now over 50%. It takes about 40 seconds per run, and when there are only two instances I sometimes have to actually wait for the purple to respawn. Practice makes (somewhat) perfect.

I know, that was a sticking point for me as well. But then i realized that i'm not really perfect on the other jumps all the time, so if i fail, while i get a couple of blues and a white or two, i'm getting a lot less purple, and a failed attempt directly to the last ramp from the mast loses less time for me.

If the 180 is considered hard, I'm prolly cheating by using a trackball, since as mentioned if you have mario skills, they surpass mine (miss at least one ramp about 1/4 of the time going all the way through). The mast jump, once you get the trick of it, isn't that bad if you look straight down, plus you have a very short walk to do it again, vs going all the way back up, or burning cocoa.

Well, any way you get the job done and have fun!

I find the back and forth on the ramp tedious. After two years of doing this I find the mast jump → second ramp → platform → third ramp → fourth ramp to be the most fun and rewarding (assuming you are not a FvS or Monk). I've got the jumping down to a science and with the instance switching trick to net me two purples per jump I average about 70+ purples an hour. I'm not in it just for the coins, I actually enjoy flying throught the air. If I just wanted coins quickly I'd join one of those Bogwater Tavern teleport exploit groups.
