Had a thought to build an evasive arcane tank - I have a Drow Sorc was thinking of TR'ing into this build. 2 levels of Monk for evasion, Paladin 6 for KotC I, Cha bonus to saves and decent HP, and 12 Sorc levels for reconstruct, tier 2 SLAs, and DoTs to help holding aggro. DoT up the mobs, then hit them with greatsword while reconstructing self. Is this a viable idea? And if so, how you allocate abilities and feats? And in what order - Monk first for skills and evasion, then Sorc for self-healing, then alternate pally/sorc? Am I just nuts?

The "Tukaw" build is actually 16 sorc/2 pal/2 rog, although I didn't keep up with the author's tweaks. If I recall correctly, he still focused on charisna and casting ability, while a 12/6/2 would be better advised to focus more on melee, and eschew spells that require SR checks or allow saving throws.
I had a 12/6/2 like the Op is suggesting- I don't recommend it.

Sorry man, but you might want to check tukaw's build. He is melee (who can cast)
High CHA was for boosting saves (among other things). Check his feat selection, no typical caster feats; well, apart from max/quicken etc.
----------
OP, I also have run a 12/6/2 as my mains Sorc life - man, what a blast :D
Feel free to checkout Souldout (http://my.ddo.com/character/thelanis/souldout) and look at the third life.
It would be much easier as a 2hf version - 3 more feats! Therefore very easy to fit in savant req. and something else. Falchion FTW!
The class split was used by Aspenors (sp?) Arcane Knight (http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=182069) some time ago, and the split works very very well.
I used differnt feats & leveling path from Asp's build:
1 - Monk (easy kungfu killing action, just use guild pots to heal)
2 - Sorc (exp. retreat & repair)
Was a while ago, but I ran as a self healing/buffing monk till about 9 (wooo firewall), then took monk & pally levels, so 8/2/2 at level 12.

13-16 Sorc levels
17-20 Pally
level 5 & 6 pally are HUGE melee DPS boosts, but quickened recontruct is rather nice too :)
For feats, well - its kinda feat starved; but much easier with 2hf:
Toughness
PA
Maximize
Quicken
Extend
iCRIT:Slash (assuming slashing weapon)
That leaves 3 to play with,
SF:Conjuration (Savant 2 pre-req.)
Cleave (is fun with paralyzers)
Quickdraw (you will be swapping things around, its the best way to make use of the build)
----------------------
Great fun to play, especially when you have several guards going off :)
Excellent as a 'last man standing' type of character (with the right gear).
Have fun!

I took your advice, and went back over the thread. While he doesn't focus exclusively on charisma, he does indeed focus on it more than strength. In general, it is my opinion that the Tukaw build prioritizes casting over melee, thus my comment.
Str: 10 build points + 2 level-ups
Cha: 10 build points + 3 level-ups
I presume that he took 4 more sorc levels when the cap went up to 20 instead of pally/rog levels because he wanted more casting power, not more melee power. Keep in mind that while Polar Ray doesn't have a save, DBF and Prismatic Spray do, so the higher charisma functioned to increase spell DPS.
I never understood the attraction of the "Tukaw" build myself, but I think that's because I can count on one WF hand the number of times I engaged in PvP. He made comments in the thread about PvP being a big impact on his decision making process.

I went with Water SavantII, and I was mildly surprised to see that while my Resist Energy (Cold) gave me 40 point resists, my Resist Energy (Fire) gave me 10 points. Since I had the Docent of Defiance, it wasn't that big of a deal, but I consider this another downside to the 12/6/2 Sorc/Pally/Monk.
I think Air or Earth would be better, but I just liked all the cold spells. That and I used to live way up north...
I also think I would have enjoyed the 12/6/2 Sorcpalmonk more if I hadn't already played the 12/6/2 Wizrangrog.

Prismatic ray and DBF dont do much on pit fiends ...
I played my own tukaw with the original Tukaw in a 3-man VOD normal about a year ago. I can tell you that most of his spell points where for healing (mas repair FTW) and buffing. We took down Sulu with our axes, we didnt use offensive spells (no DOTs at the time).

Take Defender of siberys over KOTC or HOTDI, there are a few of these on khyber check out killingspree, divine righteousness generates 100% hate on spells so its great for DOT tanking
