Sadly the game cannot shake one thing - the people who play it

For some reason PvE games like this attract the Worst playerbase

Not only are they without gaming skill but they are without intelligence and common sense, and worse, they actually make this apparent to the point that it is unpleasant, because they think so strongly that they are actually the extreme opposite; many try hards playing this game for some reason think they are the greatest thing since the discovery of fire or possibly even beer. Don't get me wrong, I actually enjoy playing with under skilled, even dumb people, as long as they are fun and try have a good time - but most of the people in this game don't do that, they do the extreme opposite

I am not talking about the people that haven't played many games, who don't put much time in and don't make it very far - they are fine and cool - I'm talking about the people who actually Do dedicate time to this game, for some reason, so many of them are complete jerk offs and idiots and I am making this post because I think it ruins the game to the point that I am actually taking the time to post here.


An overwhelming amount of people that play this game have a 'holier than thou' attitude, when they are actually stupid and trashy try-hards on a PvE game



From the massive popularity of 'BYOH' pug groups (really ?) who don't accept hirelings as an answer, to half of the clerics being bads who judge players and choose whether or not to heal them based on their opinion of the playstyle (rushing to focus on casters is written off as immature 'zerg' behavior; still have yet to meet a cleric player who was superior to micro-ing a hireling even in groups). Bards and other classes who can wand whip refusing to do so, because they figure that everyone should be able to or something.

And Permadeath, really? I can't believe people started doing this here now. This isn't D2 Hardcore where it actually Fit the game and made sense, there is a reason why it's not a built in feature. To each their own, but, I just think its an evolution of the 'I am better than you in a PvE game' attitude.

it is near impossible to find a decent group and if anyone actually rolls with a group/guild they enjoy they should consider themselves lucky. I for one enjoy this game and would like to find a decent group, it seems approaching it with one is the only way because if there is a single decent guild in this game they must keep to themselves, I have yet to encounter them and I would be surprised. My real friends are not PC gamers, my brother is not interested in the game and my girlfriend is Far from the video game type, i should probably have considered my brothers opinion but i find the PvE challenging and fun. It is too bad most players are such trashy idiots.


Sure, there are plenty of normal players, but somehow it seems in the process of grouping over half of the time I encounter these terribads, and this game gets pretty boring playing solo only which is only efficient so far. Even if there are a few good groups, playing with 3 good ones and one really bad one, it is usually the bad one that leaves the lingering taste.

Furthermore I am not criticizing the game for its lack of 'PvP' (i think that the PvP it has is fun and very well done, with the brawling and arenas, and even more skillful than many other mmos like WoW). I actually think its lack of emphasis on pvp is one of its stronger points, as MMO games are simply not skill based PvP games like Counterstrike or Starcraft or Quake.

I am just saying that I think most of the people playing this game are unpleasant terribads.

Hi, welcome.

Firstly, no, you have no clue about this game and you need to grow up. Pugging does not give you a wholesome view of the player base as a majority of the good players don't pug - they use userchat channels and group within their guild.

Secondly, sure, I can somewhat see where you are coming from when it comes to the pug scene. I pug regularly and I pug often, not because I have to but because I enjoy the random element that strangers introduce. For me the approach to pugging that works is to choose a quest that I am confident that I can complete without help and then put up the LFM and to accept the first 5 that apply.

Past about level 12 on a non-blue bar when elite streaking this starts to not work so well (at least because of the excessive time it might take) but I tend to find if I've used that approach up to that point then I'll have enough solid players on my friends list that at any given point I'll only be pugging out 2-3 spots. At this point I start to become a little discriminatory on tougher quests (like, yes, you do need 100% fortification and over 200 HP for elite Sinvala run).

You and Turbine are responsible for your experience in this game, don't blame other people for your own shortcomings.

Believe it. Some people like to spice up their game time with extra rules. Feel free to continue to believe that you're better than them, if you wish. Better yet, try it sometime and then come back talking about how they're try-hards with no skills. :D

It was a new player, specified in /a they were from Spain, and looking for a guild, I recommended they check the forums for a decent one, and to avoid blind invites.

They were quite pleasant to chat with in the game, but I wouldn't invite them to my guild since my guild is a solo guild.

i mean, yes i really do just what i want, heal only if im bored and all in all just ruining most groups and pugs - but, hey, i wanna have fun since its a game!!!

All my characters are self suff via pots, wands, scrolls or spells. Why should my Warchanter wand whip you back to health when you could use pots? Not having a basic level of self sufficiency is selfish.

There are girls in this game, some prefer to keep mum that they are female for obvious reasons; some don't make it obvious that they are female in a pug party/raid because being a girl dosen't grant you auto favour/preferrential treatment. We are just like any gamer.

All I can say is what is the one thing all of your groups have in common? You are in them.

Now, maybe you just have bad luck with attracting the wrong players. Sure, I've only been playing for two years, but I just don't run into this problem in-game as often as I should if it's really as bad as you say.

I joined an lfm that stated running with a bunch of new people for shroud, over half the group were inexperienced and we four rounded harry in part four. No one got mad we had a blast i gave all the pots i had on me to the healer that survived. We portal-ed a surviving newbie. Fun was had for all. There is a niche for everyone in this game. Free cheers for everyone!!!

Same. I've had people here tell me I had unrealistically high expectations of players in an online game, but this thread makes me look like a cynic.

For every "terribad" (yuck!) I encounter in this game, I run into at least ten really decent people. Over 90% of the folks I play with -- and I almost exclusively PUG -- are reasonably considerate, fair, relatively mature individuals. The last game I played, those numbers were reversed.

From the massive popularity of 'BYOH' pug groups (really ?) who don't accept hirelings as an answer, to half of the clerics being bads who judge players and choose whether or not to heal them based on their opinion of the playstyle (rushing to focus on casters is written off as immature 'zerg' behavior; still have yet to meet a cleric player who was superior to micro-ing a hireling even in groups). Bards and other classes who can wand whip refusing to do so, because they figure that everyone should be able to or something.

And Permadeath, really? I can't believe people started doing this here now. This isn't D2 Hardcore where it actually Fit the game and made sense, there is a reason why it's not a built in feature. To each their own, but, I just think its an evolution of the 'I am better than you in a PvE game' attitude.

it is near impossible to find a decent group and if anyone actually rolls with a group/guild they enjoy they should consider themselves lucky. I for one enjoy this game and would like to find a decent group, it seems approaching it with one is the only way because if there is a single decent guild in this game they must keep to themselves, I have yet to encounter them and I would be surprised. My real friends are not PC gamers, my brother is not interested in the game and my girlfriend is Far from the video game type, i should probably have considered my brothers opinion but i find the PvE challenging and fun. It is too bad most players are such trashy idiots.


Sure, there are plenty of normal players, but somehow it seems in the process of grouping over half of the time I encounter these terribads, and this game gets pretty boring playing solo only which is only efficient so far. Even if there are a few good groups, playing with 3 good ones and one really bad one, it is usually the bad one that leaves the lingering taste.

Furthermore I am not criticizing the game for its lack of 'PvP' (i think that the PvP it has is fun and very well done, with the brawling and arenas, and even more skillful than many other mmos like WoW). I actually think its lack of emphasis on pvp is one of its stronger points, as MMO games are simply not skill based PvP games like Counterstrike or Starcraft or Quake.

I am just saying that I think most of the people playing this game are unpleasant terribads.

All I got out of this post is that dude joins groups, expects to be babysat, is told to BYOH, and then he complains and thinks he is the victim.

let me make this clear. I have true rezzed once. I am confident I can solo 90% of non-raids on elite. I am self-sufficient, intelligent, understand the game, and carry my own weight. When I group, I do help my fellow groupmates but I am not there to babysit them.

Instead of complaining, why don't you get better, be self-sufficient, appreciate it when you get help, and suck it up when you don't.

Every class and every race can be self-sufficient if you put forth the effort and have some skill. And once you get to this point, you won't give a **** when you group with crappy players because you can solo the quest anyways and they are just there to hopefully speed it up. If they just die and ***** who cares, you still win and then you can make fun of them.
