I'm having more fun playing this game than I have in months.
Why, you ask?
Dunno, there are still some issues that the devs need to address, which there are myriad posts in the forums about...but maybe it's because, I'm FINALLY getting to the point on 3 of my toons...well 2, anyway,(having some trouble on my arti in epics) where I can run epics with an experienced epic running group, and not look like it's my first day.
Maybe it's because I found, within my guild, a group of solid players that will run quests nearly to ransack just to help me get that one set item I've been farming for months.

Not until I can grow two more arms so I don't have to take off my Claw Sets :)

Are they epic claws?
That is a very very good set.

Happiness is a good group and no access to the forums.
Indeed.
After I wasted the whole morning yesterday tilting at windmills here on the forums I didn't even feel like playing DDO any more. But I logged in anyway, found a good group to do eDA with, and it was fun.
I've decided that even though Turbine doesn't have its act together, DDO is still a great game. I'm going to play it as long as it is fun, and que sera sera on the rest. Turbine IMO could be doing so much more to make the game even better, but it's not worth spending energy trying to influence a company that doesn't want to be influenced.
But while I will continue to play, I'm not spending any more money until it becomes more clear whether Turbine is going to get their act in gear or not. I was mainly a VIP to support their efforts, and they will need to convince me again that this support is deserved.

Different strokes, and all that.
Me, I find the forums only boost my enjoyment of the game and I would not have as much sense of belonging to the greater DDO community if I just interacted with people who play on my server.
Flynn, if you have such disdain for the forums, the content of them, and the people who post here... why do you visit? I'm not trying to start anything or be a troll - ignore me if you want - but I am curious why, if you find it so unpleasant and counter productive to happiness, do you feel compelled to peruse and post?
But, I will agree with Chauncy that a good guild can really make a difference in how enjoyable the game is and how long it stays such. :)

I have played several MMOs and have found two things that I consider universal truths:
1. No MMO is fun unless you have a group of people to play with, preferably with at least a few real life friends included but this is not mandatory.
2. All MMO forums show a very negative view of the game - the forum population is made up in large part of people trying to "win" the game by eking out every last ounce of DPS and doing things as fast as possible. These people complain any time anything changes, whether better or worse, and then go back to doing what they were doing.
Always take what you read on the forums with a grain of salt, but use them to stay informed so you know what's going on when you log in to spend time gaming with friends.

Hah, reading the forums reminds me why I hate MMO's!
As to the forums... (Can you beat my high score!)

I got to run Threnal in a group with Kargon last night and had a blast. Yes, the Kargon. Of the Church of Kargon. And ham. Tasty ham.
He is funny.

I know not this Kargon of which you speak.
But I can attest to the tasty deliciousness of ham.

Really?
Happiness is a good group and no access to the forums.Seems fairly disdainful to me.
If that's not disdain, then perhaps you'd care to clarify?
Or don't. I really don't care. Just seems a bit contradictory to say that no forums equates happiness - but no disdain intended.
