Took me 8 months of play for it to hit me, but you know those Siberys and Khyber Dragonshard fragments you automatically collect? And before long you have 10k and keep collecting them? And you have another 1000-2500 in your bags? And if you got two, then in two bags!

Well, they weigh a LOT! 10k of them are 100 pounds. I could not figure out for the life of me what I was carrying that was so darn heavy. I just never bothered to Change them.

Well I had like 24k shards on me.
And I am a Halfling with only 75% carrying capacity. No wonder that as soon as I was hit with any spell that reduces str, I was burdened.

So what can you do with them? See here:
http://ddowiki.com/page/Stone_of_Change_-_Recipes

Also note, that the Khyber ones can be used to make your favorite weapon bound to you so it will never take permanent damage. But you do not need 10k!

You can save them, sure, but use the Stone of Change to combine them. This way they don't weigh much. Bank them? Sure. Until you run out of space :)

Have fun and get light!

My suggestion: bank them. Every time you stop by the bank, empty your collected shards in the bank again. Repeat until 10k and sell them on the auction house if you're not using them. Rates on Sarlona right now is 1 pp per shard.

Edit: oh and are you sure it's the Siberys shards you need to bind? I believe it's the Khyber ones.

It is the Khyber Dragon Shards that can be used to bind things to you to not take permanent damage. It takes the square of the level of the item in shards to do this e.g. if the item is Minimum Level 2 = 4 shards, Minimum Level 4 = 16 shards, Minimum Level 9 = 81 shards and so on. These shards can be used in the Trap the Soul spell as well when combined:

Trap the Soul Description:
Forces a creature's life force and its material body into a gem on a failed Will save. Although this essentially 'kills' the target, it is not a Death effect and functions on creatures such as Undead but not most Constructs. This spell requires a Khyber Dragonshard as a special material component. It is often helpful to cast Enervation on a target before casting Trap the Soul to reduce the creature's saving throw.

Material Components:

10 Hit Die version of the spell requires 1 Tiny Khyber Dragonshard as material spell component.

20 Hit Die version of the spell requires 1 Small Khyber Dragonshard.

30 Hit Die version of the spell requires 1 Average Khyber Dragonshard.

Material components needed to cast this spell cannot be skipped with Eschew Materials Feat.

The Stone of Change Eldritch Device will convert:

1000 Fragments → 10 Tiny

100 Tiny → 20 Small

10 Small → 4 Average

or 100,000 Fragments → 1000 Tiny → 200 Small → 80 Average

Siberys Dragon Shards can be combined to make better and better shards that are used to swap Feats with Fred the Mindflayer in House Jorasco. The higher level you are, the better quality shards you will need (it also costs platinum, Fred is a greedy squid :D):

100 (One Hundred) Siberys Dragonshard Fragments can be converted into 1 (One) Flawed Siberys Dragonshard.

10 (Ten) Flawed Siberys Dragonshards can be converted into 1 (One) Imperfect Siberys Dragonshard.

10 (Ten) Imperfect Siberys Dragonshards can be converted into 1 (One) Siberys Dragonshard.

10 (Ten) Siberys Dragonshards can be converted into 1 (One) Exceptional Siberys Dragonshard.

10 (Ten) Exceptional Siberys Dragonshards can be converted into 1 (One) Flawless Siberys Dragonshard

Both types of shards are placed into the Stone of Change in the Marketplace or in the Enclave of the Twelve to accomplish this.

Khyber Dragonshards can also be combined in this manner, and then the bigger better shards can be sold on the Auction House. Wizards will buy them, as they are a component of the spell Trap the Soul. The bigger the shard, the higher the level of creature it can trap. So making the shards as upgraded as you can before selling them increases their value.

Yeah, I was editing that in as you posted.

You can get a free 30 item green bag at the House of Twelve. You also get a FREE 12 item green bag from any of the non-player character that talk about the Cannith Crafting.

To find the House of Twelve, you go from
Korthos --> The Harbor
The Harbor --> The Marketplace

Once in the marketplace open up your map by pressing the letter M for Map.

Look for the Green stars on the edges of the map, those are entrances to other houses and more quests.

House of Twelve is on the left hand side near the bottom part. Commonly referred to as SW area.

Once in the twelve you will need to run across the bridge to the big tower. Enter the tower and look for the patron, whose name I forget. Talk to him and he gives you one small ingredients bag that holds 30 items.

If you play long enough, you will find out that you probably will need several green bags for all the crafting. There are ingredients from Sentinels quest, Necropolis quests, Shavarath quests, Vale of Twilight quests, the dragonshards, the essences, and the odd ball items that come from Threnal, Sorrowdusk, and probably something else I don't remember.

Tiny Khyber Dragonshards can also be purchased at the vendor in the House of Twelve. Never pay more for them than what you can buy them for in the game all day, every day.

One more tidbit, MEDIUM Collectable bags, or red bags can be purchased at a few vendors in the game for around 7,000 plat depending on your haggle skills. You can buy them all day, every day. I know House P and House J have vendors that sell them. What you can do is ask a bard if they will purchase one for you for their cost. I offer that on my bards once in awhile, rarely do I get any takers, but if someone asked me to and gave me the plat I would do it.

Syberis serve for change feat purpose.

Khyber to bind an item.

Really if all you put in your Bank was Dragon Shards you could have 200k 10k per spot. But would be silly to do this.

Hoard them, hoard them all! :D

When I wanted to change a feat on one of my lvl 20's I discovered that you needed a crazy amount of Siberys to pay Fred. Much more than I had saved up from two characters lives.

So it may seem like they are a waste of space at the moment, but I'd save as much as you can. You never know what you might need them for, based on the current game or after future updates...
