View Full Version : Favored Soul Requesting a FvS Build

Been running classes and funky multi-classes I haven't run before and decided that after my current project I would like to make a Wis based FvS. I've never made one that lasted beyond lvl 5 but would love to try! Could someone give me some advice on how one could make this? Helf race preferred, splashes are acceptable. :)

If you're going Helf and staying pure, I'd strongly suggest Monk Dilletante for the extra 2 stacking tiers of Improved Recovery. Those two, along with the normal two Helf tiers, give you 144% healing amp before any gear at all. With even moderate healing amp gear investment, you'll break 200%. Then go the Sovereign Host route for the free capstone cure light wounds, which can be maximized, empowered, quickened -- and is still free. With your healing amp and a superior ardor clicky, you'll have an uninterruptable free self-heal for well over 100 HP.

Between that, your 10 DR at cap, good DCs on instant kill spells and blade barrier, wings, and all the other goodies a favored soul gets, you'll be well-nigh unkillable.

Went WIZ for arcane buffs, but lowering INT and upping something else could go with Monk for the heal amp.

Also, could start with lower INT but 13 INT base will get you the WIZ dilly without an LR.

Thanks a lot guys, this is mostly what I was looking for. Just a few more questions.

Would it be possible to drop wis by 2 points and int by 1? I'd rather go Monk dilly as Card suggested than Wiz. The extra points from this could allow me to bump cha and str considerably. I think the gain outweighs the loss of 1 DC, but as I said, I have never taken a FvS beyond 4th.

I wouldn't drop wisdom. You want every DC you can muster.

18 wis, 14-16 con and the other points wherever you want depending on dilettantes.

ok, taking heighten is a really bad idea at 18, take it on the spot where you took greater evocation
reasons why is 5 dc always gonna be greater than 1 dc to one class

Yes, don't drop Wisdom for anything, my wisdom based FvS is level 20, and I will lesser TR just to make the wisdom 18 instead of 16 that I started her with. My most powerful character is my Wizard Pale Master, but the FvS rivals if not even surpassing the level of fun I can have with a character. If I don't quite kill something, I go whack it with a stick until it stops moving, a very satisfying experience.

I disagree, heighten is unnecessary until very late in the game. I always take it as my last feat on a divine. For an arcane with many useful low level DC spells I would take it around level 9, but not on a divine.

Taking heighten at 15 will certainly not hurt, but it's not really necessary, and I prefer the free +1 DC to evocation spells that GSF Evo provides as you will be casting primarily blade barrier before level 18.

100% agree with this. Heighten is an essential feat for a DC-oriented caster, yes, but it's also very SP-expensive, and using it will be a situational choice until you're capped and well-geared. I would never take it earlier than 15, and often don't build it in until 18.

I could get into the whole "FvS is not a 'healer' class unless you choose to build one that way" thing, but I guess I won't.

The single current PrE for FvS is the offensive caster PrE, not the melee PrE.

Notice that it requires an offensive casting feat as a pre-requisite, and spell point and spell damage enhancements, adds 30% to (some) damage spells, and lowers enemy saves and spell resistance, but doesn't really improve your melee at all.

I am a strong proponent of a spell pen feat on your first life. If not both spell pen feats. It doesn't matter what your dc's are if you can't land anything.

It's a good feeling greater commanding an abishai in epic chrono and saving the party. You can get your dc's high enough without the spell focus.

If you go max spell pen, and max dc's with items I recommend:
Epic Helm of the Mroranon
+3 exceptional
+2 alchemical
+3 tome (or +4 if you can get it)
+1 profane (litany)

With these items you will be able to acheive about a 46 wisdom....with store pots 48...abishai cookies 52

yeah, i see what you are saying and you are correct. my thought when i posted that was more in the line of i wish they would stop creating more unfinished game and finish what has been in game for years. to me, the game is about your toon, and creating it. they've been so centered on getting new players they don't seen to care about finishing what they started... there's how many unfinished prestiges?
