So I took my lvl 18 feat after U12 and the new blades. Thought to be extra safe with Empower healing..

Is it?

Heal Mass is about 350
Heal Mass Empowered is about 525

Cure Moderate Mass with Empower and Emp. Heal is about 190
Cure Moderate Mass with Maximize is the same, only +4 SP

Is it needed to be a primary healer? Would I be better of with Mental Toughness? Or more Spell Pen? (Caster/Healer Fvs Build)

Most builds I see here of FVS don't have Empower Healing.

I wouldn't take empower healing on anything other than a high healing amp pure FvS that intends to solo or tank and self heal with the free cure light wounds. It's simply not needed for mass heal to be effective.

What other feats do you currently have? Assuming you are a caster (i.e. wisdom based) favoured soul I would take either spell penetration or spell focus evocation (assuming you already have all of maximize, empower, quicken, heighten and toughness).

Edit: removed in case I don't have a clue lol

Basically I like it as a feat.

thanks for the advice,

I have Maximize, Empower, Heighten, Quicken, Toughness, Spell Pen,

then Empower Healing & Greatsword.

I took the Greatsword at lvl 12 just coz I had a Min2 from my past life. It's been useful for saving SP coz I like to solo.. to take the time to learn the quests on my own without too much pressure. My Capstone is the Searing Light.

Evocation sounds good.. though a part of me thinks +1 is too little for a feat. Perhaps if it were +1 to all DC's..
I was either going with Evocation though, or Greater Spell pen, which could open up 6 points in my enhancements at least for flexibility.

on my no healing amp w/f fvs i can't think of a much more usefull healing feat.

I think when i took it, it was because i wanted to play it safe. I thought I may possibly weaken my char in other areas, but i wanted to qualify as a primary healer. Thinking possibly in some quests/raids, it was a prerequisite, and that I wouldn't cut it.

The few people I asked, so far a couple of FVS's say they took it and enjoy it as well.
Though not as bang for the buck on the FVS as for a cleric.

yeah, for Warforged... its probably more useful.

Or healing warforged Melees i guess.. or a handful of warforged melees.

Get some healing amp then you bum :D
(j/k of course)

Back to the OP, ya, wiz past life would be way better than spell focus evocation, but without that available evocation is still probably the next best thing, for blade barrier and implosion. If you're looking to solo epics and such though, spell focus and greater spell focus necromancy might be worth consideration. Implosion is nice, but the 60 second cooldown is a pain, and being able to spam destruction and slay living on separate cooldowns in pretty wicked.

Chette's right, i should get healing amp on my fvs, and with ship buffs / claw gloves / tod ring all w/f should be sitting on ~100% healing amp in epics.

when i decide to move my fvs from geared enough, to well geared i will drop empower heal, instead equipping an epic chainmail coif, and using my eardweller / epic dragons eye to boost my mass heals for 6 mins when needed.

imo it's a feat that helps carry lesser groups through and is good if you pug, but to me it seems an interim feat to tide me through.

Disclaimer is that I play a WF FvS so it is extra useful to me.

I think it's great. In ToD if I'm solo healing the main tank and he/she is a horc barb with little (claw set and ship buff) to no healing amp scrolls won't cut it and at times heals for 300-500 aren't full heals. Especially now that everyone has a SD with 800+ HP you want the heal spell to hit for 600+. Empower healing is more cost effective (SP conservation) than empower. I use empower for offensive spells only because it will suck your SP dry quickly if you're applying it to cures.
