View Full Version : Must we craft in a basement?

A friend of mine complained that the Crafting Halls are "horrible, dreary places" and that they would consider crafting if the machines were "outdoors" and not in something that "looks like the basement of a public school complete with the green tint of old fluorescent lighting".

I would not suggest any resources of any significance be diverted from fixing any of the game for something like this.

However, if you're considering adding another Crafting area, perhaps it could take place in an "outdoors" instance.

The trouble with an outdoor crafting area is that small animals will
accidently crawl into the machines while you are crafting your
ultimate devil killing weapon.

Do you really want a bluejay stuck to the end of your boss beater?

LOL +1 when I can.

But I'll admit, I might craft if it were in different place, maybe even the ship.

I thought it was the sanctuary of a church. Complete with organ music.

Actually, I like the decor but I find the music unsettling. And I usually like DDO's music choices, even the weird ones like the Partycrashers tieflings. But the somber, heavy music in the crafting hall makes it way too serious. I turn off sound when I'm crafting.

No, but I may settle with a honey badger on the end.

I could go for some dancing girls, heck even dancing warforged... anything to make the place more appealing.

The bar in the necropolis is ten times the party that is the Cannith Crafting hall.

This just made me think of the movie The Fly.

The more dungeon'ee look and feel a Dungeons & Dragons game can be the better. Why on earth would you ask for something outdoors, why not add bluebonnets, Uncle Remas or something. In my opinion they should make it even more dungeon'ee with stone walls with some dripping water and moss, maybe a cobweb or two.

Yes, yes I do.

Only if it then changes the devil beater to bluejay bane.

Oh what, maybe then I could make a Butterfly bane weapon for those evil butterflies in the hills.

Nobody ever suspects the butterfly.

Got to agree here.

It really depends on the stats of the Bluejay, what it bestows, and if it increases the Craftable level any beyond base stats.

Really, there's a lot to consider in relocation crafting devices. I'm not even sure House Cannith knows how - I think they assembled them on-site. Moving them might cause them to explode.

Those butterflies are evil. One flew up my nose once and as I ran around the countryside, waving my arms like a madman with a butterfly up his nose, I got whacked in the head with a hoe by an irate farmer and a wolf urinated on my leg. The orcs just stood and laughed at me. It was very embarassing.

Outside? *sputters* OUTSIDE??!

Don't you know anything, boy? Fresh air, sunshine and birdsong interrupts the flow of Mad Genius! And those rabbits? Those ain't cute widdle fluffy bunnies, they're Robotic Adaptive Binary Independent Transmitters sent by your rivals, the better to spy on you and steal your best ideas!

What is WRONG with kids these days?

Hmm, that bluejay, was it an ice bluejay or a thunder bluejay?
Tho either way i suspect it would raise the min lv.

Also, everyone knows magical crafting is delicate and must be in a secluded area.
There's a reason wizards chose tall towers or deep caves for their laboratories.

More importantly, the city would not want a magic lab anywhere near a populated area ;)
Exception is the alchemist guild in the terry pratchett books, because it brings a large boost to the building construction industry.

Yes, but that property is currently broken until the next mod.
