Hard setting stage 1.:
(Combat): Lava's shavarath lava hit you for a total of 296 points of fire damage after 30 were blocked by energy resistance.
So now THE FRIKKIN LAVA does 300 points of damage?

Don't fall in the lava?
Don't fall in the lava?
This. And lava is hot.

Um. ToD Part 1? You know, that part where the bosses have an unavoidable "Blowback" effect with no tells that *will* send you into the lava, being that the lava is prevalent everywhere in the room in 360 degrees? Yeah, that one.
Not to mention you're not even submerged - you're ankle deep. This isn't like swimming around outside the Twelve.

If you had feather fall on, you could easily steer back on to the pathways after bouncing off the walls. This is what I do. It's easy.

It's your own mistake: nobody forced you to roll a melee.

You've got it right. unavoidable. between the wall traps, the lava and 2 bosses/curses it's likely impossible now on elite. Hard alone will be an autokill for most non melee.
completely ridiculous nerf.
oh AND forget about "steering' with featherfall. you don't float away. You get teleported in a random bounce. Even standing inside the dogs alcove you still get bounced out. AND the telekinesis attack rate has been increased. Every 5 seconds or so you get blown away in random directions.

That sounds odd. I wonder if the combat log got confused with trap damage or somthing?
Our 'normal' TOD in guild is the hard setting. And we fight *in* the lava - backs agaisnt the wall for the South room and then in the room when it opens. And we've run a few since U12.
It will be interesting if they've changed that as that is a 2 tick death.

I ran one on hard since the hotfix this past Monday, and did not experience this massive lava damage. Sounds like a bugged instance.

It's not bugged. i sent in a ticket. here's the reply:
We have investigated the issue you have reported and found that the functionality is working as intended.
Another secret nerf.

I speculate that the concept for TOD1 is that you're supposed to fight the bosses on the upper level of the structure, and for people to gather up on the lower level was considered a degeneration. So now they're trying to make the lower level more dangerous, to encourage people to do things "right".

Or maybe the OP fell in the lava near the crooked stairway. Sounds more likely since it's deep lava there... and he didn't bother to specify.

Hey, at least the group leader let you come on your white dragon. Most people would have brought a less fire-vulnerable character!

I was right on the edge of the platform where the dogs spawn fighting with my back to the alcove.

Firesheild? Firestorm greaves? Put those on and you won't die. God forbid one of the highest level raids in the game on a harder difficulty that you chose makes you use tactics and items to complete it. Sorry this game isn't swing weapon here, swing weapon there anymore. Seems fine to me.

Why? Why does it matter?
It seems lame to design the encounter so that it can ONLY BE PLAYED ONE WAY
Why not let players ingenuity find different ways to play TOD part 1?
I know of about 6 different things that different groups do. Why not let them?
A lot of people kite the jailor on the top bit. But hey no biggie if they have to kite the jailor somewhere down the bottom.
All that taking the fight up to the top would do is increase some of the randomness in which way you are thrown around the room. Increased randomness at this point decreases the chance of use of skill in other locations which is silly design.
I guess I'll invis and run down there to look.

if you helf /dance2 in the lava with the jailor you are immune to fire damage.

Well yes, your soulstone is immune to fire damage yes. It sits in a little box over to the side though and is not all that productive in terms of completing part 1.

Ran a hard tod today, i was hit for somewhere in 35 +-5 range with 30 point resistance and 33% fire absorption item (lava in part 1 of course :) ).

It certainly seems to be giving the wrong info:

That's 90ish damage there

No 300 damage there

Most likely scenario - although he maintains he had back to the doggy door? Perhaps bounced off the wall and into the deep lava?
Lava has always hurt a bit in hard ToD - but not to the extent that you can't just stand in the lava and be mass-healed through the encounter. Doesn't seem to me like it's any different now - definitely no 300 point ticks!

Never checked if the lava does crit damage.
We do hard normally and haven't had anyone die from lava. Generally it's from being cursed and then sent into traps with 100 hp left :D

I think the lava just told you to die in a fire.
Sorry, couldn't resist that.

Well, our guild is running only hard, and I still run through lava when tanking jailer, while other kills judge.
TL,DR: I hasn't noticed anything.
Oh, and about tod bugs, rigth after update, when Horoth was at 60%, Sulomades came in, looked arround, thougth something like 'OMG, theese guys again!' and fled rigth away. :D

Past U12 i've done both hard and elite (but not past monday hotfix not that i think it should matter..) and lava did like 100ish per tick as it always did; perhaps there are patches of deep lava with increased dmg or perhaps something went wrong in your instance.
