View Full Version : Artificer Artificers and trapping

Hi. after making a completely fail Healer as my first toon i figured i'd make a very proactive semi passive healer through the Artificer. Healing grenades and trapping making things easier on the healer.

I was wanting to know how the DC for traps work so that I'm able to be good at what i do if i can't be a good healer (main reason for this is cause i don't know what gear set up to take for a cleric).

At the moment my Artificer is lvl 13 and has +48 to disable devices and +49 to Search.

I was just wondering if also how i go about boosting my spot mod as i have maxed out it in skill pts each lvl. I don't have a Wis modifier to boost that area as my big stats are dex con and int. Everything else is a 10 min. If i could find out the DC for spotting traps than relying on memory or wiki. Or a ranger or mister Horc barbarian who enjoys running through the trap for something to do :)

48 and 49 DD/Search will be fine for level 13. If you can get those skills to 60 at level 20, you should be able to handle any most epic traps too.

For Spot, if you've maxed it out, you should be fine if you can find a Spot bonus item and a Wisdom item. In my experience, the Spot DC for traps tends to be 3-5 points lower than the Search DC, so you're still okay if it's a bit lower than your Search. You can also keep a Voice of the Master equipped and a Heroism potion active for +3 to your skills if you find that you're having trouble.

I've found i can get my Disable to 60 now with greater hero, a +3 action boost and fox's with +5 Thieve's tools still at lvl 13.

Thanks for the reply just wanted to make sure i didn't make this toon a failure like i did my healer
