Guide : Labor Shortage :Solo LvL 20 = 150 scrolls

How to solo Level 20 Labor Shortage the easy way.


Things to remember:

#1 : Kobolds are very dumb and will collect in any old direction near your torches.

#2: Do not fight bosses, you will be kiting bosses around the top corridor. ;)

#3 : You do not need to buy extra torches to do this.


How to:

Upon entering into the zone, summon a hireling if you require.
Leave the torches directly to your left, and the ones south of the Foreman, gather all other torches.

Purchase 2x teleporters from Foreman.

Start to lay torches to top left ( West ) corridor. Kill the mobs as quickly as possible.

Drop a teleporter into first T junction room.
Clear all adjacent rooms.
Clear down ramp and back to Foreman.
Buy all barrels.

Kill any incomings on Foreman that are not bosses.

Return to your torch line, make sure you have a few torches going through your T junction room and into the large room nearby. ( Maybe some purples if your lucky )
Drop your barrels around your line.
Drop your second teleporter down ramp lower west of Foreman.

Ok your done with the working part.

Wait for bosses to spawn, attack them and grab aggro, kite them away from the Foreman and up top and around in a large circle. This will allow your workers to carry on harvesting crystals.

Because you cleared the paths, the workers should have a free run west and be able to harvest easily your 100 + 200-400 extra. ( Depends on purple crystal layout )

Wait for timer to run out.
Done... 150 scrolls thank you.

Ps: Some Bosses are easier to kite than others, but I will let you find that out for yourself ;)
You can also tend to your flock with bosses in tow, lay torches etc etc, the bosses will happily follow you where ever you go.

I park a hireling in active mode by the foreman. Typically thats the 15 or 19 FVS who can just murder folks.

The LvL 20 Demon queen will 1 shot your Fvs.
My toon has over 900hp and the Demon Queen is no joke, let alone if you have 2 Lvl 20 bosses at the same time, sometimes even 3.

My level 18 FVS running at level 20. She certainly doesn't one-shot me, but when she pops I hide behind a Leviks and pop my Docent of Defiance - then Divine Punishment her to death.

I actually much prefer her to the stupid lich, because when she hits she procs the condemnation, and takes more DP damage. The lich dances around too much.

Does running a level 20 quest if your character is only level 18 give you more end reward materials than running the quest at level 18?
Wouldn't running at level 18 be more productive?
The chest loot surely is no better.

The above guide is the easy way for any class, as some do not have the luxury of spell casting abilities.

It depends on the layout. The bonus for additional purples is better when running at 20 on an 18, but if you've run it a lot (and it sure sounds like you have) then you know that west path can either be a gold mine, or kinda weak. If it's kinda weak, you were probably better off running at 18.


Real key is to watch when your completion mark is about to hit. If you're below half-time and the marilith spawns, she'll chew your hire up and a mess load of kobolds. Your tolerance there is better on the 18 (the 20 certainly does hit harder).

The level 20 lich also casts Wail of the Banshee - the level 18 only really casts meteor swarm at that level. If you're not capable of handing out deathward (either w/ your hireling or yourself) you need to watch that too if you're sticking and fighting.
