Soooo here we were, in a shroud. Simple easy shroud. So we've got ourself a good leader. Talking everyone though the raid: Enter part 3, puzzle time.

One dude start swearing like hes turned into a inanimate freakin object about someone trying to help him with his puzzle. He starts swearing about people being nerds (aren't we all playing the same game... GA-ME).
The leader states he whishes not be be adressed as such and politely asks our raging partymember to tone down a tad... Which REALLY turns up the swearing parade this joker is putting up.
Leader doesnt like it... quits (1 of the 2 healers btw)
next partymember... think "omfg we are gonna fail now!11!111!!" quits (caster)
Our raging baffoon has had it as well... quits forgot his class, some melee.. must be a barbarian if you think of it, taking rage in rollplaying to the next level.

So as i am about to quit, coz really this has no chance of completion. Then as i say goodbye, our remaining FvS challenges me by asking if i am afraid of repaircosts.. if not, that we should try. Needless to say, we did otherwise this would turn out to be a lame post

2 rounder in part 4 (2 deaths, melees, blades got em)
Part 5 another drop, one of the monks had to run off (no ragequit, RL), few deaths, but still a finish. Not the fastest shroud ever, but the most fun in some months.

Thank you fella's, you know who you are

I was a profound opponent of the new shroud... but now i feel that if a completely random shortmanned group of puggers can do it... it might not be that bad :D

Phew, I was worried you would be posting how we can't complete shortman on Thelanis.

Although I would be interested in the swearing idiot, not welcome on any of my runs if you throwing a wobbly because a simple light puzzle is to beyond you ;)

I was in that run (on my pale master Makkuroi, the wiz with the 447 hp and low sp, really need that cleansing stone so I dont have to swap my shroud accessories)..

It was me typing the question about the repair costs, but I only did so since the remaining fvs seemed to have solid stats which usually indicate a solid player. It would have been a pity going all through part 1 and 2 and not trying part 4, its short the one way or the other, and part 5 will be much easier after.

The guy with the swearing was the first one who ever made it on my squelch list in 10 months of playing (it was a horc fighter by the way, i remember his name). Maybe its because I rarely put on my headphones out of raids... I dont mind occasional 4-letter words, but cursing other players excessively is definitely too much.

Good job with the completion, it seems all the cool guys stayed in. A pity the leader left, but it was probably the only way making his point since he cant kick people in-quest.

Well, Swearing and getting redfaced mad because someone enters your "room" and does the puzzle.... Outta line...
Rage Quitting because of it even worse....

However... Enter my room and try to do my puzzle without asking me first... We will die in wall before you complete it... I'll guarantee it...

(Exceptions: North 5X5 as it is their puzzle as well..., and if Mine is the last puzzle to be solved, as long as it is the last puzzle before you take if from me...)

Manners people... a lot of people are touchy about their puzzles, and will get upset that you start in on theirs without asking first...

But grats on the completion...

I was on the monk that stayed to the end, Bantyrooster. It was a barbarian that had the meltdown. It seemed like he hit a crack pipe instead of a rage pot. He even threatened to kill someone if they touched his puzzle again. I spent 8 years in the US Navy and he spouted more cuss words in 2 minutes than I ever heard in a weeks time on a ship.

I wondered what I had gotten into. Thirty minutes later I had this feeling of, that was awesome.

Gratz on the completion.

No doubt the barb way over-reacted but running in and taking over his puzzle is male genitalia move.

That's incredibly impressive...unless you worked for the chaplin. Took me about a month all-told after I got out to detune from using the synonym to frak like every other word.

Over here among the ranks it was considered common courtesy to change every adjective into at least a string of expletives, the more creative the better effect and if you could get an illiteration going, well....Promotion! Just tossing in a curse in a game because it's "cool", well that's just boring. If you going to rage at least try make it entertaining or rather quietly fake a dc.

Agreed. Being a sailor cursing like a sailor while doing sailor things...like getting the reactor operator to scram the reactor before you have to cut power to the reactor cooling pumps because you lost all steam...is entirely fitting. Cursing in a mixed population where maybe some kid in the family room not wearing a headset is going to get into trouble is lame.

Not sure if someone asked or not if he needs help ... well if not (s)he should have asked imo.

But still, the barb seems to have over-reacted big time ... Well he quit and you guys managed to pull it off with a few peeps short ... Good job, well done !!! :-)

Good times...now that they're long over.

We failed to miss the boat in choosing NECs, though, was talking to an ex-corpsman the other day whose entire sea duty time was on base in Italy.

That had to be the most fun ive had in the shroud in a long long time.

The barb, whose name is .... well just think of the common name of the god of orcs and you'll have him. But some talked of squelching this gem...no way bra' that was gold. I nearly had snot coming out of my nose laughing while he was calling people nerds and threating violence to others. CLASSIC.
And it made me think of this equally classic little clip

you wont be disappointed!

But yeah alot of fun and shows with a bit of team work shroud...even the brutal upadated shroud can be completed easily enough.

Outstanding mention goes to banty, great job on the beat down. I love healing monks!

It wasnt a barb, it was a lvl 20 horc fighter with a min2 greatsword. I just looked him up on myddo. I didnt find his behavior funny, but I guess thats a matter of upbringing. Id definitely feel unwell if somebody was talking to me like that, and even just hearing it was enough, I squelched him.

It was the more interesting Shroud than I ever did, but the leader would have done better to stay and simply add the "cool boy" in his own ignore list.

It's funny how you go away for a while and stuff that was normal back in the good ole days seems to be much less frequent these days.

Gratz on those for sticking it out.

Proves the new blood (I don't recognize any of the posters) have the potential to keep this game going.

Rages and Ragequits like that were all so common back over the last few years and it was funny. We would pick up with whomever was left over and finish whatever raid, times without healers, etc.

Being left with 4 - 6 players going into part 4 was the norm, by choice (shortmanning) or by ragequits, etc...

I played for a month back in the spring and a week or so in the early fall and based on the newer players I saw and the content, I really had no intention to come back to DDO.

But, seeing the fortitude of a small group of people who haven't seen the "good ole" days and managed to pull off what they did on this shroud makes me think the game and Thelanis still has hope.

Nice work.

Yes, I've been in some pretty sub-par groups and still completed since the update. I doubt that PuG shroud completions on normal will ever be as high as it was just before the update but they should reach respectable levels in no time (85-95%).

As for the changes being necessary or making the shroud "more fun" I don't know if I agree. Though I do really love the extra loot on elite. I will be running all caster shrouds on elite every 3 days because with the extra chests it's worth it and there is no reason to subject yourself to a chance of failure by bringing anyone who can't self heal and provide decent ranged DPS.

It is al a matter of teamwork really. If everyone agrees to listen and to cooperate anyone can complete a shroud.
So far i've got 100% completion on the new post-U12 shrouds. Some because of insane DPS pugs (by coincidence, i'm not selective).
Not saying that i realy like the new shroud. If there is not one experienced in the group people wil prolly fail.

Grats to everyone on that run, impressive effort. Really separates the wheat from the chaff when situations like that turn up. Personally I'm always for trying something on a harder difficulty even if it fails, worst case scenario you just try again ...
