View Full Version : We've got plenty of DoTs.. how about some more HoTs?

The only HoT (healing over time) abilities we have (that I can recall) are pretty weak enhancements for a cleric, and some lackluster items. How about throwing in some HoT spells for our healing folks? I wouldn't suggest making them as powerful as the DoTs are (my DP can crit over 1000!) but something more than a tasty ham or a pouch of jerky can provide, just to help out in the raids where you have one main tank taking most of the damage from a raid boss.
If this is a terrible idea, or has been proposed and shot down before, let me know. I'd love to hear some feedback about this, especially why it would be a terrible idea.

I can't recall the exact names, but there was a serious of PnP spells that granted fast healing X to the target over a period of time, in the long run they were better than cures, just healed a lot slower (X per round, or X per 6 seconds. Probably would reduce to time per tick to match troll regeneration and other things with fast healing in DDO)

it would be kinda sweet if Radiant Savant III had some way of casting an aura on a third party. That would be kinda cool.

You're referring to Vigor.
Lesser Vigor (level 1, cleric & druid): fast healing 1 for 10 rounds + 1 round per level (max 15 rounds)
Vigor (level 3, cleric & druid): fast healing 2 for 10 rounds + 1 round per level (max 25 rounds)
Greater Vigor (level 5, cleric & druid): fast healing 4 for 10 rounds + 1 round per level (max 35 rounds)
They were indeed more efficient than Cures, but they wouldn't be feasible in DDO unless they were amped up quite a bit. The Virtuoso's Sustaining Song is proof of that.

That would be sweet, but I'd hate to have the ability pigeon-holed to just the cleric class, and one PrE in particular. If we ever get the rest of our PrEs that would be more of a concern but, I guess since I don't see that happening soon, maybe it's the most viable option?

It's a great idea, why didn't anyone think of this before?
It will totally help overall healing and ease back the stress on healers during long-drawn out tank-v-boss fights such as LOTB and TOD.

I already have a HoT. See Valindria in my sig.

Oh, and if possible, remove the silly dots from the game. They promote bad play.
(Have you ever seen a caster die to the blades in the shroud? it happens because the dots encourage him to be stationary.)

Yep. /Signed for the main idea, /signed for that particular suggestion.

Exactly what I said in another thread some time ago. I think RS III needs something like that.
Yes, limiting it to one class is not very good, but it could be a start - a testing ground to see if it's a good idea. If it works out similar spells or SLAs could be added to other classes.
