From what I understand it is turbine's policy to not talk about exploits, so the only thing you will see here about it is possibly this post disappearing.

Not like we don't already know this, maybe they will also say:

Like many (most?), I don't really care if people get away with an exploit for a little while. I'd rather they didn't, sure, but it's not a big deal to me.

It really drives me up the wall when Turbine thinks I'm too stupid to handle being told what's going on.

tbh it silly that they don't say this happened this is what we did about it, other wise its all cloak and dagger which is stupid

Take it easy man, no one said you are too stupid. It doesn't help to conduct a discussion when you get all ragey about it.

As many have pointed out: Turbine's policy is not to tak about exploits and no raging, begging or reasoning will change it, That's their policy.

i agree best not to say what the expliot was (even tho its out there on the internet for this case)
BUT to admit it and say x amount of people got perm banned let this be a warning for all is a different thing

if it looks like people can get away with the type of thing so more people will do it :)

rumor has it they didn't get perma banned anyways. slapped on the wrist and sent on their merry way to enjoy their ill-gotten loot and plat... eh, whatever. I was choked at first, but, well, since there's a billion new plat on the server now, I figured it was time to start selling some collectibles :)

they dont have such obligations, you are entitled to the game/service/updates are bound to certain rules etc. but im quite sure its nowhere written that Turbine HAS to publish any such information, they MAY, if they find it necessary.

what has happened, already did happend, damage is done. you or anyone else here cant do anything about the result.

I know i can't do anything about the result :)

i'm just saying without actually knowing there are "punishments" for things people will just do the things again the future.

for instance if for theft no-one got fined / locked up etc people will think there is no punishment for theft so they will all do it which isn't the case.

The idea that the only thing keeping me from using an exploit is knowing about it.

I am also philosophically opposed to secret police, unaccountable courts, and so on, but an MMO using them doesn't get under my skin as much as direct personal insults from people that I am paying for a service.
