I posted this in General DDO Discussion, but here you go Thelanis...now go make some Half-ASSed characters!
I have an idea for a new character build…
The character is a Halfling, Half-Orc, or Half-Elf Artificer w/Sorcerer Splash otherwise known as the Half-ASS. The Half-ASS is not a professional piker and should never be played as one although piking may be necessary at times (see below). The Half-ASS was designed to alleviate the stress of trying to be the bestest-hardest-hitting-most-hit-point-having-moar-dot-casting-SOB on the server! Reduced stress should enable a more enjoyable play experience.
Performance:
The Half-ASS is meant to be in the thick of things doing what little they can to participate in any given quest. The Half-ASS should never get the kill count or the death count, therefore piking a quest 50% of the time may be necessary. Will you win every quest? Hell no, but this isn’t about winning, it’s about having fun. Have fun and with approximately a 50% effort you should be able to win at least half of the quests you decide to conquer.
Race:
Halfling, Half-Orc, or Half-Elf.
Leveling order:
Leveling order is not important, but please remember, the Half-ASS should probably be 10 Artificer / 10 Sorcerer. It’s a big sorc splash…what can I say?
Stats/skills:
The Half-ASS is not a min/maxer, as a matter of fact it is just the opposite. Therefore, it is important that you do not try to max out any stats or skills. In fact, you should only put exactly half or as close to half as feasibly possible otherwise you run the risk of creating a character that is not Half-ASSed at all. For example, if you choose Artificer at level 1, do NOT put 4 points into Disable Device…only 2, then you may put 1 point into disable device every other level. This will free up skill points to put into other skills not previously utilized, such as repair, heal, and swim.
Gear:
No specific gear required; however, if you are going to use a tome on your Half-ASS please, please, please follow the guidelines below:
- Only +1 and +2 tomes may be used.
- At level 7 you have the ability to use a +2 tome, therefore you should only use a +1 tome.
- At level 15 you have the ability to use a +4 tome, therefore you should only use a +2 tome.
- It is only recommended that you use a +1 or +2 tome on 3/6 of your stats. The stats you choose are not important.
Although this character build could be described in greater detail, I am too Half-ASSed to complete it.
