Gamepad help

I recently got an Xbox 360 controller and want to use it for DDO, but when i try to use the wand i have equipped in the game to attack an enemy, it only swings the eternal wand of finger fire and the spell penetration II club of power III i have. I've tried key mapping the key emulation of the left mouse button to the attack but even though it's able to use the wand, it stops being able to be used for interacting with objects/enemies/people.

Also is there any way to decrease the sensitivity of the D-Pad on the left side of the controller?
