Looking for some help here, not exactly new to DDO but only have 3 toons all under 10. I really like the monk and want to get him to 9 for ToD, I was thinking of putting in a couple lvls of Cleric or Favored Soul. I spend a lot of time soloing.

Suggestions please?

Multiclassing on the fly is usually a bad idea as you'll lose much more than what you can gain without a carefull preparation.

In this particular case i would not suggest to splash a few cleric/fvs lelvels as you'll gain very little and lose quite a bit (martial feat, capstone, bab).

If it is your first monk i would suggest to stay pure to experience the class with all its perk; if you intend to solo a lot being light monk can be easier as you'll miss Touch of Death but you'll gain Fist of Light which will allow you to self heal decently.

Ok, thanks.

Is there a way to get UMD without multiclassing a monk? Had the option for a real nice wep from Delara's but was UMD 20

At this point? You can but everything else will suffer to a degree. You can get charisma items, persuasion items and start putting 1/2 points into UMD when you level. You may be able to hit a UMD of 20 at cap depending on your base charisma and any GS/Epic gear.

If you really, really want the Devotion wraps, you could always alignment change to good.

Hirelings are dramatically more effective and cost dramatically less than splashing cleric/FvS into a monk build.
