What's with the changes to the forum layout? Used to be a list of all the most recently posted to threads in order. Now its just a screen of all the available catagories with a partial showing of the first thread listed to the right. I don't care for it. Any way I can get the old layout back?

Nope not unless Turbine does it. The forums have been like this in the past when maintenance was needed. They reverted later on. I believe it is a kind of "safe mode". Hopefully when the Forums are "fixed" they will revert.

Turbine uses a commercial forum system, vBulletin. When the LoTR forums were compromised, Turbine upgraded the forum software to the latest version, which quite possibly had not happened in awhile. Keeping 3rd party software up to date is important because vulnerabilities are being discovered all the time.

When the software was upgraded, it likely broke any custom components like the former front page, which now need to be fixed or re-created. Also, new bugs and features (which are which is up for debate) are always introduced when you upgrade software.

This is the link for recent posts: http://forums.ddo.com/search.php?do=getdaily . It's also in the upper right of the navbar, under "Quick Links" if you're logged in.

Keep in mind that the link creates a query, so you can't refresh it - you need to go back and click the link again to refresh it.

Will this do for now?

Look to the top for "New Posts". That's what I have been doing to see what is being posted.

My bad.

That's what I get for trying to play on the forums on my break @ work, where I'm always pressed for time. I completely misunderstood your question, probably due to skimming rather than actually reading.

What Muldamai said, using the "New Posts" link on the forum pages header is prolly as close as we can get until they rebuild the front page. They probably updated to the latest version of vBulletin, and it messed up their layout, like cdr said above as well.
