Right, Ive lost the count on the posts Ive done about this issue.

Theres always been SOME lag, and yes that is expected.
But now the game is unplayable...slideshow bob is in action and it is NOT enjoyable.
Servers are overflowing with population or its just pure JUNK!

Solve the issue now! This aint any request anymore, it's beyond that.
I cannot find any answer to the following question:

Q: Should I pay for VIP on an server that lags that much you cannot play?
A: ....

If you have experienced the lag, please fill in the thread.

I just had to bail on the Depths series for the same reason. And this is a Wednesday night for God's sake. There can't be that many players on right now. Please fix things, Turbine. It is getting unbearable.

Some of us are paying customers, but i have noticed that there are players who arent getting what they are paying for.
Which is: Playable servers!

Its hard to play, or even enjoy the game when this lag keeps going on and on all the time.
It have been reported multiple times, yet nothing have been done to sort it out.

And the lag isnt the only thing.

Take the hirelings for example...
You said you should make them better, THEY ARE WAY WORSE!

Some players wants to play solo, which means they will most likely need a hireling to make it through the quests.
But whats the point of having hirelings when they run across the whole map to attack some enemy that havent even attacked you, WHEN THEY ARE PUT AS DEFENSIVE!

And to those who jumps in here just to tell us to check our computers, ISP etc...
My connection is just fine, im playing other online-games just fine without any lag.
Nothing is setup the wrong way on my router either.
I know that, because im a computer technician, so i know how to troubleshoot these things.

The only dragon instance I was able to get into last night wiped because of the lag. Every altar covered, every lever covered. Everyone communicating in either general or party chat. Didn't matter. It's hard to describe how bad the lag was, "stop-motion animation" comes close, but when there's a 30 second delay between the time when you cast a blade barrier or cometfall and the time it actually appears, even that term isn't quite sufficient.

lag is terrible absolutely terrible. i know its not just me either cause when you're in a party and everyone starts yelling lag it can only be server side issues. this is complete and utter BS. upgrade your servers or start losing customers.

a great event would be no event, and devs and $$$ being spent to fix the lag. I did not play maybar, but the majory of other places I went in the game were really bad.

The main topic in guild chat last night was when the Starwars MMO was coming out (Dec 22nd), and if the guild should switch.

the lag that we feel in the past few weeks is probably the worst lag i felt in my entire gaming life,
and its good ur adding new content and fun raids and stuff, but how does the new content helps if you CANT play it due to lag?

It is unplayable. I gave up and will not return till the event is over.

I'm not entirely convinced that it is the events themselves that cause the lag.
Me and my friends were having lag issues before all the **** came online, granted not as bad, but still.

Like I said in another thread I started, I'm paying for the gameplay, not a friggin slideshow. For that I can hit google images and search for DDO.

So, Turbine or whoever codes the game behinds the curtains, do not do a Microsoft.
Ditch the new content development and put some hours on fixing EXISTING PROBLEMS.
Like someone said before, there is no point in new content when the content is utter **** (Not his words exactly).

Tshober

You are correct, there were pretty severe server lag problems before the events. But the events take it from very painful to intolerable.

Unworkable Lag, Orien, Maybar Event, Spectral Dragon Chamber, 22:40 (ish) GMT 20/10/2011.

30-60 second delay on chat, let alone the slide show gameplay. Ethereal Key wasted in the process, not mentioning the repair bill from somehow being smacked to death by Gargoyles - they seem to have less lag issues, perhaps you can introduce them as a race? =/

I have no idea if this will help at all., but here is my personal take on last night, 10/20/2011, Between 9:00PM and 11:PM EST.

From what I have seen Lag is not coherent or constant. While running though Orchard of the Macabre (Doing Rares/Slayers), I noticed that I was moving pretty well, able to see the mobs and fight with ease, my wife was delaying no less then 10 - 15 seconds behind me. At some points she would even come to a complete stop in visuals as to what was going on, (IE: Neither I or the Mobs were moving on her screen), an example of this was at the Carcass Eater Mound.

Her screen nothing was changing, no one was moving (I was running in place on her screen), yet, I saw her on my screen moving around. swinging her sword, and still interacting, even if she could not tell what she was actually doing, it was a rather surreal effect for her to look at my screen and see her toon paralyze and even vorpal mobs while on her screen she was just standing in place swinging her sword.

I will also note, that even while she could not move well, she was able to still chat in real time with not only myself, but others.

Now after a bit of Slayers/Rares, she opted to re-log which seemed to clear up quite a bit of her lag, and we opted to try Fleshmakers. Through most of the run lag was not an issue at all, and we easily breezed to the Air Elemental room, whereupon we both got hit a mighty blow of lag. Watching the chat channels we saw that the dragon was spawning during this point, and after a bit of not being being able to move at all, we finally jumped down to the lower floor and waited for the Dragon to be done in hopes that would clear up the lag for us. And, our plan paid off, as it did.

We then quickly ran about, did the runes, mosh pit, and called it a night.

Now, I am not sure if this helps at all, but, the lag is not universal to all players overall, or in general.

I noticed personally that the lag got really bad in house J, as I walked over to Mabar Event, and zoneing took roughly twice as long as typical.

However, Earlier in the evening, I ran a few Raids, and Lag came in small batches and packets, like irregular waves which seemed to affect the while group uniformly.

Again, Not sure if any of this helps. but, I will say, of my own humble opinion I think the Lag issue is getting progressively worse as time has been going on. Mabar last year was fun, easy, and only slightly laggy in the Zone itself, and did not seem to bleed into the other parts of the game (Again, just my observations).

Sadly, I will say, had the lag been this bad when I first opted to try this game out, that would have been a very short demo, I, like others who have been around, am willing to deal with it, because I have played this game for a while, got hooked on it, and want to keep enjoying it, But, we all know that while new content may keep older players, working smooth content is what brings in and keeps new players.

As others have suggested, after U12, I hope that funds get diverted to fixing the lag issues, while keeping with the great events and wonderful dynamic of the game. The events are awesome, and fun, and we do enjoy them! Thank you for them.

But, this lag has stolen much of the fun of the game.

I know the events are not to blame, as they were run last year without a hitch, or this much of an issue. This is a progressive issue that has been getting worse and worse as time as gone on.

Anyway. That is my bit. Hope some of this helps.

Between 9pm and 11pm EST on Argo, I had pretty much no lag at all inside of the Mabar event.

However, When I recalled out to get to a bank, I was ...*freezing*...up now and then. Things would pause for a second then skip ahead.

Once I got back into Deleras, I had no issues at all until I went into the dragon chamber. Then with the acid fogs, blade barriers, firewalls, disco balls...I would press buttons and the effect would go off up to 5 to 15 seconds later.

So every week that lag gets more terrible. Events are nice, new Quest Raids and areas are nice but what the F*** wil be done to fix the lag? I did play almost every day and now i go back to watch tv insted no fun any more. And please Turbine get in your Head it is neither my mashine nor my connection.....

During Crystal Cove or Mabar event purple named Lag Monster visited Orien world.

At first, it was some *small* lag issues, when healing spells didn't land and we got wiped in Raids.
But later, we got real lag blows when you couldn't even hit any monster, nor you could move. Even your death was lagged (I was still pulling lever in SoS/ice section having -20 hp, for like 2 min).

Please, fix it.

Btw, why there is ALWAYS orange named Lag Monster in Shroud part 1 (and part 2), when you go to chests?
He is always there, at least 3 months for sure.
Because of that little monster everyone blamed Shroud if we get any lag somewhere (until Purple named monster arrived).

Had a similar problem on Argo. Heavy lag in Mabar. I had to restart my client and when I came back I was in Meridia and my inventory was a bit light. I lost a cloak of night and >4k Motes. Of course when I put in a ticket the GM told me that if there is a server issue and I lost inventory I had no recourse.

The lag and loss of packets from server is not related neither to connection or pc hardware.

Using 2 different setups:

Main:
Intel Core i7 2600
8 GB DDR3 1333MHz
nVIDIA GTX 480 KFA EX OC Anarchy Edition 1.5GB DDR5
2x 1TB SATA3 HDD in RAID 0 Hybrid technology
Running on Fiber connection and its up n running in 98% capacity (100mbit / 98 mbit)

Second
Lappy with
Intel Core i7
8 GB DDR3 1333MHz
nVIDIA GT 540 2 GB DDR3
500GB Seagete Hybrid HDD

Tried on the fiber connection at my place, work place, friends place.
Tried an 4G Mobile connection (up to 100MBIT WiFi), 3G Mobile connection from 3 carriers

Game is still lagging!

While playing I always have my connection icon up, gives me info for packet losses and so on.
Server is lagging badly, longer you play more you lag.
Either your server cannot handle the ammount of players
Either the client has serious memmory leaks
Tried to do Eyes of Stone quest, but it was almost impossible. Since it was slideshow.

Some of areas seem to have more leaks or losses that others
Is there an problem towards allowed connections at the same time to a specific place?
Does instance servers run on same server as I.E Marketplace?

I will put my account on hold untill this is fixed. I will not go on and pay to do an failsearch to Turbine. Been an customer for you an long time. But as I read it and many others will propably do...if you dont increase server capacity, you might aswell put R.I.P to DDO, since you will not have any players gaming it anymore.

This is very dangerous times aswell, considering Start Wars Online coming out 22nd December, Mass Effect 3 that is announced aswell to me an online multiplayer (rumors for an mmo later on)

Ive dropped WoW and Blizzard ****** attempts to resolve lag and server issues, left to DDO for more mature player base and stable servers. Now...theres no difference on servers here or Blizz...this is unbearable, unforgivable.

Solution is;
Solve it...or stop developing!

It's 6 PM on a Saturday, so I expect some lag, and there definitely has been some. But now I'm here writing instead of playing because yet again I'm stuck. This time in a loading screen in Catacombs. I've been stuck for 9 minutes and counting. I was previously stuck for 5 minutes and forced a quit and restart.

The missing because enemies jump like blink dogs is terrible, but I can at least get some farming of lower level quests done. Lockups? In the last quarter of an hour I haven't even been able to get into the quest.

Turbine, get your act together, I've spent hundreds of dollars on this game but it isn't too big an investment to walk away from and find a game that works.

Stop wasting your time "re-balancing", we'll accept that some classes are more powerful than others for a while. Stop wasting time with rules changes. Fix what is making the whole game unplayable. You're letting the forest burn down while you water a single tree.

Total time to get in - 21 minutes.

Right. I read that the servers, forums and whatnot are going down for maintenance tomorrow (monday).

Turbine, do the right thing, fix the issues or start losing paying players. I know I will be one leaving unless the game is actually playable later that day or at least you acknowledge the problem and assure us that you will fix it ASAP.

I've been reading the forum, different sections and servers and what amazes me is that members who claim to be from QA just ****s us in the ass saying our computers or network connection is at fault.
Please. Me and many many more have state of the art PC's. My PC is squaky clean from viruses according to Norton. I got no trojans according to SpyBot and Malware Bytes. All my other games run just perfect. This is a fault at YOUR end.

Like I said, fix the issue or start losing money. And I urge the people to follow, don't pay for something that doesn't work.

PS.
One good thing actually came out of the stupid lag/glitch issue. My bard hireling cast a haste on me that lasted about 10 minutes, the CC was at 0 the whole time.
Maybe I should have not said that. Now I'll be reported for exploiting the game *rolleyes*

Mancerot
10-23-2011, 10:24 AM
I'm also one of them who will quit the game if the reported issues doesn't get solved really soon.
I ain't going to pay for something that doesn't work.
I rather use that money on something that actually is working as intended.

I haven't played this game as long as many others have, but i found this to be one of the best games i have played.
But now i'm feeling a bit doubtful about that.

There are many games out there that can be just as fun, and some games yet to come.
So yeah, either fix these issues ASAP, or start losing customers.

Ghallandra is in the same boat.... I figured this morning after the DT it would be OK.. But even when barely anybody is on the server... I'm in Sins.. spells going off way lae skip hop skip... Not client side type stuff definately server side... Then outside in Devil Battle field... I would get the "You killed so and so" message when a named boss dies.. BEFORE he died on my screen.. 10-15 seconds before... I was still being hit after he died...

Sad...

Theyr'e too busy screwing around with Arti's useless dogs... :( Why would you want a stupid dog when you have a 1,000 point BB the flame turrets and a pew pew pew arm cannon....

Lag on Orien is completely unacceptable; you can guess what that does to the populations. So even if your somehow not getting this lag, good luck either finding a group to run with or completeing the quest at all.

Oh well, got New Vegas to tide me over til 11/11/11 (Skyrim release date), so its unlikely I'll be touching DDO again for a LONG time.

Linked to give something to look forward to.

Orien's lag is awful.

I've seen comments from Orien, Argonnessen, Ghallanda, and Cannith...

Are all servers lagging?

I was thinking about coming back full-time soon...but not now.

The Devs have clearly stated many times that what we are perceiving as "Lag" is in fact something else (obviously some kind of background number crunching - most likely Cannith Crafting related)

Having said that, I play on Orien and very rarely see this so-called lag - perhaps I'm lucky. Oh, I'm also playing from Viet Nam - yes, the other side of the world...

So when I try and equip any item via a toolbar and it takes 3-5 seconds for it to equip, that's not lag? Or when I try and logout and I can't, nothing happens at all, that's not lag? Or when I click on the mailbox and wait 3-5 seconds for that to pop open, that's not lag?

All this took place in the marketplace btw...not sure if that makes a difference.

On the other hand, Korthos isn't lagging at all :)

Then why does it affect some and not others when we all use the same servers?
The servers are the constant, everyone uses the same.
The connection and PC are the variables, everyone's are different.

This game is instanced. so some instances might lag when others dont. This could be a whole zone, or just some dungeons.

Also, its standard procedure for the servers to 'randomly' choose connections to disconnect and/or throttle bandwidth under extreme load conditions.

The different servers are just shards on the same server farm. each shard can have its own different lag issues.

For folks that always experience lag and they have good machines/connections, I tend to think its a software issue with their graphics cards/operating systems.

ok my lag has gotten to be horendously bad since u11 update! But, now it is horrible and I can't play at hardly at all. U12 has made it worst then ever. I am considering writing off DDO as the MMO of Choice. I want to wait a couple weeks and see if they make some changes, but I am sure that they won't. I agree they have not updated the servers nor have they expanded them for the new content and influx of new people. I suggest that they go back to as many servers that they use to be to clear up some lag. But, most likely they will remain passive on this until a mass exodus has occured. I.E. that right after u12 update we attempted an elite and hard shoud the lag was so bad that we wiped on part four where the blades we're made so powerful and massive with the lag combined with that we wiped both time. How can we get those extra chest if we can't even make to the end fight or complete the quest.

God the lag has gotten unreal! Running Shroud yesterday, the group got to part 3 when the lag hit. NONE of the party could move at all. Half a dozen people died cause they happened to be in the path of the blades when the lag hit. It lasted well over 2 minutes before anyone could do anything, and then it was stop-and-go ****. I understand that the Shroud is one of the laggiest quests in the game, but I've NEVER had that problem before there. Ever since U11, the lag has made this game rather hard to play. Get it fixed! I'm a paying customer that doesn't want the frustration that the server gives me!
