View Full Version : Does Ice Storm stack?

If I were to cast more than one ice storm on the same spot, would they stack? that is would they do 2x (or3x,4x etc.) damage?

AFAIK, it only counts as 1 no matter how many Ice Storms are overlapping. A fellow sorc once told me that the last one cast overwrites the ones before it, but that's by no means a confirmed answer.

That's firewall, i have no idea about ice storm... as far as i've been using it if they don't stack then it just expands the area the ice storm hits...

Ask anyone from Minnesota in a couple months, they can just look outside for the answer.

Ice Storms do not stack.

Ice Storm Lag, however, does.

And yes, when a "new" Ice Storm is applied to the same Target/Target Area, it essentially replaces the old one for damage. Meaning if you're a Wizard with two enhancement points into Ice, and you stack on a Water Savant, you're only hurting yourself.

Hmmm. Methinks my lvl7Wiz/lvl12 Ftr had better not cast Ice Storm. Lol.

What about other spells? does Wall of Fire overwrite Ice Storm where they intersect, etc.?

What about Non-damage AoE Spells (Fog Cloud,Fear, Circle of dancing, etc.)?

WoF can't be cast in an Ice Storm.

You cannot cast a wall of fire in an ice storm. The ice storm negates wall of fire. However acid rain works great!

If you cast ice storm on an active wall of fire, the wall of fire is put out, only Ice strom lives.

If you cast wall of fire on an active ice storm, it just wont appear / immediately put out.

your ice storm can not stack
but your IS can stack with other ppl's IS

Is that true? does acid rain stack with Ice storm? are there any other spells that stack (like cloudkill)?
What about Fear, Mass Hold Monster or circle of dancing, do any of them stack?
What are the rules for stacking spells?
