Are there any places known for dropping more than average rates of them?

I need to start collecting them. And quite frankly, have never paid attention to them until now! :eek:

If you plan on farming them from quests, you will surely die of old age before aquiring many. the only place to feasably aquire them is the ddostore.

Devil assault has an increased drop rate of a number of things, maybe theres a good bet to check?

EDA is the only place I have ever had Astral Diamonds drop. Maybe I am unlucky, but seems like EDA is the place if you are hoping for these. Most ppl don't really care about them much, so you might get them passed to you as well.

I can confirm that Devils Assault seems to be the, ahem, best place to get them

I have pulled 2 since I started playing DDO, once in DA Hard and once in DA Elite.

And as others have said, don't hold your breath trying to farm them, if you really are desperate for Astrals and do not want to spend real money getting them, you would be better off Favor/TP farming for them.

I know this will just cause a stir in the convo. Last night I got a drop of one Asteral Diamond on the Inlet quest on elite. Now before you think I run that to death... I was actually doing it for the first time on a level 4 toon with a large group. It shocked the group to see it drop as well as myself on such a quest.

I got an Astral Diamond from one of the rare spawn chests in the vale of Twilight when I was dong the rare/slayer/explorer grind for XP once.

I got my first AD ever today, from elite DA, and someone else pulled one from the same chest.

My son pulled one from a lowbie quest months ago. Under level 5, IIRC.

Seems to be something like 15% drop rate in epic devil assault. i.e. I see about 0-2 per run for 6 people.

Be warned that Astral Diamonds can only be deposited into your Guild Treasury in a stack of 5, so until you manage to pull them 5 times from Elite/Epic DA, they are worthless clutters.

Fastest way to get them as freebies is to just run characters to 100 favor and use the TP they generate to buy them from the store.

I'd argue.
Its really faster to mown someone's lawn or walk someones dog and buy TPs, than to get 100 favor enough time.

Well, experienced farmers can get 100 in about half an hour and the lowest point package is £6. So unless you are lucky and get someone to pay you £12 per hour it might be faster to farm it. On the other hand it will be surely more mindnumbingl boring :D

Given lots of endgame players run the former 5-20 times per week anyway, I recommend it. Drop rates are still low.

Yeah, but getting 100 favor is 25TP.
When I needed a little cash for small amout of TP, i was sticking posters, 10PLN/hour, litte more than 3 hours gave me 2 smallest packs (or 1 little better, I don't remember).
If I would be 'experienced farmer' then I would made 150TP.
How much is for a diamond again?

Anyway, I would still recomment it, as it lets your eyes rest from screen, not to mention, you will get some fresh air!

You are right in that respect, it has been proved time and time again that getting even a low paid job to get some TP is always more efficient than farming favor. But to each his own I guess.

Farming, I have heard/seen the most coming from Devil Assault. As people said, they require stacks of 5 and I have only seen 1 or 2 drop.

Easiest is the Lottery - I won 10 that way (groups of 5). Just check in morning and night for those auctions.

It's about 3 hours flipping burgers at McDonalds to get you the 2500 points for 100 astral diamonds. Farming points in DDO is like working for < 1/5 minimum wage, it's really quite a stupid thing to do. It's one thing to pick up points as you're playing but to actually put effort into farming points instead of having fun... dumb dumb dumb.

I got two Astral Diamonds in generic mid level quests and I've gotten two sets of three from the DDO lottery.

At anything above the lowest point package, Turbine Points are between $1 and $2 per hundred points.

That's between $2 and $4 per hour IF you can get 400 favor in about a half an hour once you've cleaned up each favor's initial favor.

You'll get fewer Astral Diamonds per hour farming favor than you would by just collecting soda bottles off the street and turning them in for their deposit and then buying the Turbine Points directly.

I am pretty sure I have actually pulled one from HARD Devil Assault. Can't have been elite as my highest level character is only 15....

This. Although you can get them from seemingly any chest, EDA appears to be MUCH better drop rate for them.
